A friend of mine wants to do a replica of a Camaro  his brother bought new in 67. His brother passed several years ago so he can't ask him and no photos can be found. We both seem to recall it was orange however after many 67 Camaro color searches I can not find any orange offered till 69. Can anyone here confirm that there was or was not an orange offered on the 67 Camaro ? Maybe a special order possible ?  Thanks guys.

I found this Ray and there is no orange offered in all the Chevy car lines according to the paint code chart list  at the bottom of this link even for Corvette.

The ONLY color chip chart I found in a Google search that showed an orange listed for 1967 in a GM lineup was for their commercial lineup, which was just listed as orange.

Wow, that looks a lot like '69 GTO carousel red.

Probably is. The same color from a car manufacturer can have twenty or more different names and color codes spanning multiple model years. Quoting Jim Mattson (former COPO office at GM):

We would paint a vehicle any color under the rainbow except for the Cadillac Firemist colors and Corvette colors. Our special paint book would have thousands of special colors in it, with more being added weekly.

The Cadillac Firemist colors were excluded due to them having such a coarse metallic. These colors needed to be sprayed through a special paint gun. Even on a Cadillac, the Firemist paint was quite a costly option!

I even remember a fair number of cars being ordered in the 1970 Chrysler color "Plum Crazy"!

That last comment opens up a lot of interesting possibilities.

This was discussed on the Cadillac Lasalle Club forum a few years ago.  It's a '76 Eldorado convertible special ordered in that color.

FC7 wouldn't have been available until 1970 model year ( the "F" = "1970" ) , then was dropped after 1971 . But , that doesn't mean that it couldn't be had after 1971 ---- I've seen two examples of 1971 model year cars painted FM3 , which was a 1970-only colour .

That Plum Crazy / In-Violet looks at home on that '76 Eldo !

So that explains why Curtis Mayfield's Superfly theme starting playing in my head the moment I saw it!

I remember reading in an old Cars magazine about a '67 Chevelle that had been painted in one of the Cad Firemist colors--I think it was some kind of bronze or brown tone--back in the day. That was part of the reason I painted my recent '66 Chevelle street monster build Testor Root Beer. I thought it might look cool, and darned if it doesn't! B)

Fc7 was a regular avail color option in the 1970 AND 1971 model years.

Discontinued for 1972 though.

But  thre have been a few documented 1972 vehicles painted that color
