Rbray47 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 This is a replica of my dad's old truck. I changed the camper special wheelbase to get a regular 8 ft bed. Converted to round headlights and 77-up gas door. The hubcaps are Moebius, but the 300 six isnt. The block, head, intake, exhaust, and valve cover are scratchbuilt. Everything else is parts box items modified. The trans is from the revell 32 Ford kit.
TarheelRick Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 I really like this particular body style F-series pickups. Also like the multitude of two-tones available on these. Your build is an excellent example of a fine looking truck. Sweet build.
Plowboy Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 That is a really nice looking Ford pickup! I really like that it's a replica of your father's truck. I especially like all of the added details and the scratchbuilt six cylinder. I did the same type of build with a '75 not too long ago.
mikemodeler Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 That looks great! Love the details and the color choices.
LouO Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Another sweet Ford Pick-Up. Love that it has a 6 pin in it!
espo Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Great looking truck. I like the minty Green and White two tone.
Modlbldr Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Beautiful work. I like everything about this build. This looks more like the truck my dad had. I asked on your 78/92 pickup about the grill conversion. Any help would be appreciated. Later-

I dug through my parts box until I found a pair of round headlights that looked to be the appropriate size. 30s-40s vehicles usually have decent ones. Next I drilled out the molded-in square lights to fit the new round set, then paint the bezels black.

carrucha Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Nice pickup truck. Good work detailing the engine.
Fish_65 Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Sweet looking truck and you did a great job on it. How bad was it to convert it to non-camper-special wheelbase ?
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 That is a great looking build! I remember this color combo. Great job on the bed conversion! All around excellent build!

It wasn't too bad. About the same process as building an altered wheelbase drag car, cut out the wheel opening and move it forward. Make sure you have a good side profile pic before cutting. The hardest part is getting both sides to match, and fortunately, Amt molded the bedsides separately. Depending on year, the gas cap will have to be removed and a door scribed in its place. I also have one converted to swb.

All around excellent build! Thanks! I used Testors Fifties Aqua, but Ford called it Light Jade. I think 80 or so was the last year it was offered. The 1:1 had a dark green interior with fake woodgrain that didnt really match the rest of the truck.
