I’ve been thinking about trying this for a while now and finally broke down and did it today. I used my plotter to cut a decal stencil and this was my outcome...

Good first attempt. Well done. I would guess a similar pattern on the other side?

yes other side is exactly the same, I cut the stencil for the other side in mirror so the were the same.. I took a pic of the body and fenders together, only thing I see I should have done is lowered it a little more so it met the fenders better

If your plotter cuts out the design you are ahead of the game. I still need to use an X-Acto knife.

This looks like an '80s era design. I have one in mind using the drips as you have and the torn metal look that was popular back then. Plus maybe a couple stripes and/or checker-board.

I also have plans for at least one '70s paint job. Probably more if I can.

I like your paint treatment. as DPNM mentioned this was something some were doing years ago. This will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I like it. The plotters can be an especially handy tool, no doubt about it. Two questions; what blue did you use (I like it a lot), and what kind of car is it? '37 something, perhaps?

My cutter will cut pretty small thankfully, I figured an old school paint job was good since this is a rehab kit

The blue is a OEM Ford color I picked up in Dupli-color called Sonic Blue Pearl. The car is a 39 Chevy, this kit here

Good job! Your paint looks waaay nicer than what’s on the box.

True enough. I've never been a big fan of flames anyway, but this silver and blue mix looks just great.

I've always liked flames. Not the tribal ones. Old time, traditional, you betcha. I plan to try to do the True Fire in scale. Don't know if I can til I try.

Brian's design and colors do go well together.

Nothing wrong with individual taste, nothing at all. I grew up where flames were all the rage, and if I ever do a street rod that reflects that era, I'll probably add flames too.

Looks outstanding!

Thanks Carl... and thanks for all the comments. I've got to decide now what will be the next stencil to try out...

I've not seen such a design concept before, I like it!  That's something you could produce and sell if you wanted a side job.
