David G. Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Like the title says, I'm looking for an aftermarket source for 1:25 / 1:24 side view and rear view mirrors. Three of the last four kits I built included no side view mirrors (AMT, I'm looking at you. :D) and one had no rear view mirror. Needless to say, my parts-box supply is dwindling quickly. I have done a bit of searching both online and within this forum with little success. So if anyone knows of a good source for side view and rear view mirrors in 1:25 / 1:24 scale, I would be grateful for any information you could offer. Thank You, David G.
High octane Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Both the rear view and side view mirrors were plentiful with the late 50's and early 60's AMT kits. Try and find a model builder who has a stash of these and willing to share, or check out swap meets.
stitchdup Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Theres some 3d printed mirror sets on the auction site. each set has multiple mirrors and are in interior and exterior sets. Price didn't look bad to me but may be higher for you guys in the US
Jim B Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 (edited) You can check with Greg Wann (he's a member here). He offers resin mirrors. Edited April 2, 2020 by Jim B

Unfortunately, a good percentage of the side view mirrors from those kits were pretty horrible reproductions of anything that was ever seen on an actual car. Most were these ugly ass square things in the AMT annual kits. These are from the AMT '62 Pontiac Bonneville kit. You never have, and never will see these mirrors on a real '62 Bonneville! AMT put these exact same mirrors in every annual kit for many years. Fortunately, the bases are usable, so I will occasionally separate the square mirror from the base, throw the mirror in the trash and replace it with a cast round mirror. Steve
David G. Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 Thanks to everyone for the response. I'll keep up the search and share any good results here. Thanks, David G.
stavanzer Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 I really Like those Square Mirrors, Steve. I even had something similar on my '73 Chevy Wagon, back in the '80's.

Most were just a smooth rectangular mirror. This is the '73 Chevy mirror. About the closest thing that you will find to the AMT mirrors are the ones from some 50s Fords. Steve

Can you narrow down the year range a bit, or give us an idea of what these mirrors would be used on? '78 Camaro Sport style mirrors? Chrome '50s style?

'78 Camaro Sport style mirrors? Chrome '50s style? Hi Casey, I build cars and other vehicles ranging from 1920's to current times, mainly focusing on the 50's to 80's. What I was hoping for a couple of variety packs, mainly for inventory. Thanks for your response, David G.
