Gramps46 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 (edited) Danbury Mint 1957 Chevrolet Cameo pick up. Just got this after looking for a while for one in my price range. Found this one which was affordable because it had a broken off right wheel but I went for it anyway. Received it and yup the wheel was dangling from the tie rod. The whole assembly was screwed together so I was able to remove the screw holding the wheel on and make a new pivot from a styrene tube, tack it on with Gorilla Super Glue, let it dry and then reinforced the joint with JB Kwik Weld being careful to let the pivot function. I very gently screwed the axle back together again. Searching the bay I found other Danbury Cameos which had the same problem as mine so I am thinking it was a design flaw but fortunately it is fixable. This was also the first time I had used JB Kwik Weld for a repair and I was impressed with its drying speed and strength. The model is pretty remarkable with all the detail included by the Danbury Mint. I think this will be the end of my pickup series as I have gotten the ones I had on my wish list. Here the '57 is compared to the Motor Max 1958 Cameo. Comments welcome. Edited April 9, 2020 by Gramps46
THarrison351 Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Those trucks are nice! Is your spare tire still hidden behind the center of the back bumper?
swede70 Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Beautiful model and certainly grabbed on the right terms. Thanks for sharing your new acquisition... Mike K./Swede70

The spare tire is there fortunately. Thanks for asking as I would not have known unless you had said something. I guess the designers did not expect you to pull a trailer behind the Cameo because there is no place for the hitch. Edited April 10, 2020 by Gramps46
THarrison351 Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Those are pretty trucks, not towing trucks! So no problem. Like I said, this is a nice truck. One of the first I purchased. It's been so long since I've seen mine, I don't remember what year or color I have. It's been packed since we moved over six tears ago. Maybe next week I'll pull everything out and start my "sell what I don't want anymore on eBay" project I told my wife I would.
Geno Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Man, that looks great with the reverse color '58. Great score.
