Has anyone else tried Krylon ColorMaxx Paint+Primer?  It says for metal, wood, plastic an more.

It doesn't seem to like styrene very much. Uneven finish and takes over 24 hours to completely dry tack-free.  But seems to come out decent eventually.

It's grocery store paint.  With LHS, and Hobby Lobby closed and on-line takes a week or more, this stuff seemed worth a try.

I’ve been messing with it for a while - I quite like it!  I’ve been careful to test it on a spare piece of whatever I’ve been using it on before committing to painting anything important, and regardless of whether a paint says you need primer or not I prime just about everything anyway...works out well for me!

I like their silver for a kind of polished aluminum finish - it has a real fine flake to it that I like:

I recently painted a few parts with it , and had mixed results.  On bare , clean plastic it wouldn't stick and finish was awful.  Now I primed same plastic w Tamiya fine white primer , then painted over that w their color max gloss white and it looked beautiful w fantastic coverage . The price is good too

This is the Krylon. ColorMaxx over Rust-Oleum 2x primer on a diecast.   I primered it before I bought the green.  This is over the factory paint that I scuffed with scotch Brite pad.  They're is a thread in the diecast section that shows original model.  The paint itself works ok but does seem to react with others.

I had some light crazing on the door tops.  In the gray that was applied over the blue.  I let it sit for a couple days and it seems fine.  Shiny enough for this one.  I may try to polish out or I may repaint the get closer to the factory green.

This is on metal though.  If I were doing plastic, I would probably still prime.  Or try to find the Rust-Oleum 2x paints.  They give pretty good results from what I've found.

I'm not sure what the dark green on plastic seats is.  A can of appropriate color with no primer or anything.  I can check that too, if you need to know.  It came out very shiny and I really would have liked it duller.  Will have to dullcote that.

Good luck

I use it quite a bit for everything. If I'm going to weather the model, the body is usually a Krylon color. I've always been happy until they switched to the wide female nozzle.

I use the Krylon short cuts all the time. primered or bare plastic i grt great results. The short cuts have no primer mix in just enamel and not real thick. i buy them at hobby lobby.
