Mike999 Posted June 18, 2020 Author Posted June 18, 2020 Just hit the Hobby Lobby closest to me, hoping for a 4-door Impala. Nope. No new kits, but all the shelf slots were filled. In this store, I think the newest kit is the Revell Boss 302. Picked up some supplies instead: hobby clamps, rubber cement for masking/weathering, and wood glue for use in dioramas etc.

Corporate seems somewhat vehement in particular beliefs. Your nor my beliefs are associated with comment. Be well. Mark, it doesn't look like buckets were standard option on the Impala. Didn't look at Caprice. But if they fit, do it. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits/Impala/1967-Chevrolet-Impala.pdf ? no worries.

Deuces ll Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Yep!.... ?? Oh, well.... No biggie!... I do have a couple of '67 Impala kits including one in a AMT street machines super set.... ?
stavanzer Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 I wish my H.L. still had the '40 Sedan kits..... They've been out of them since February. Maybe, with re-stocks happening, I can get one now.
Mark Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Nope, no bucket seats in the Impala, other than the SS. The Caprice had something called a "strato-bench" which appears to have a fold-down center arm rest. Impalas were limited to a bench seat. Since the rear seat has to be altered anyway, may as well rework both seats at once and make them match. The Caprice conversion is a no-go, no Caprice unique wheel covers and no photoetch emblems either.
Hotrod 97 Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 The Chambersburg Hobby Lobby recently got the Supernatural ‘67 Impala, but aside from that, nothing new that I know of.
ewetwo Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Hobby Lobby has 3 kits in their clearance section on their on-line site. The1962 Buick, 1940 Ford Gasser, and 1969 Olds 442. They might have others in the store also. It was like that the last time they had a clearance sale.
Tom Geiger Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 I stopped by my local store on my way to Lowe’s yesterday. No Supernatural Chevy but they seem to have gotten a shipment from the warehouse. Tons of boxes across the rear aisle, people loading merch onto shelves. I’ll check back. With nothing new I just bought a spare can of Testors Dullcote with my magic coupon.

I stay one bottle ahead on Flexi-file cement, Tamiya primer or any paint I use a lot of.
Daddyfink Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Went to HL yesterday and they did have the Super Impala in stock, but not much else. And there are quite a few empty spots on the shelves, which hopefully means there is a reload on the way.

The stuff I will always use like Testors Dullcote and flat black, an extra bottle of glue etc. I do notice how busy the store is on my way in. For instance if there is a long line I’m not going to buy Dullcote I don’t immediately need. I would wait on the line for a kit I want, but then I engage folks in conversation and make sure everyone knows about the coupon. That’s their penalty for having long lines!
vamach1 Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Has anyone found the Testors enamel large bottles of the Ford/GM blue? All the HL near me has is the Acrylic paint in that color.

What I've started doing is laying a coat of the Hugger Orange Lacquer on my engine assemblies (block, heads, oil pan, front cover, intake manifold and valve covers as needed) as a primer, then brush-painting the acryl CER over that. Not perfect, but works pretty well. Something like that might work for you.

I will try the last hobby shop within 20 miles (about 10 miles from here) that sells primarily RC and train stuff but they do have car kits and a pretty decent selection of Tamiya spray paints and whatever Testors paints you can still find. I guess there’s always ordering online or I look in my pre-painted engine parts bin.

stavanzer Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 It does have a 'lowered' front axle.... Dang, I wish out H.L. still had some.
ewetwo Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 (edited) I couldn’t resist. Drove to my closest Hobby Lobby. Nothing new and not a lot of anything. But more diecast taking up shelf space. Bought a bottle of flat clear with the coupon. Edited June 23, 2020 by ewetwo
Deuces ll Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 Wow!.... No Moebius Comet kits or trucks????.....
