Plowboy Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I built this years ago when the last reissue came out. At first, I had it like the side boxart sans the goofy headlights. But, it had the tail down stance and I added the fender skirts. Then, the chrome reverse wheels didn’t seem to fit with the skirts. So, I changed those out to the smooth wheel covers. Finally satisfied. It's just a simple build of a simple kit and while it didn't come out like my original vision of it. It did finally come around. Paint is Dupli Color Bright Red with Tamiya TS -13 clear. Thanx for checking it out!
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Very nice indeed. Particularly impressive is the fit of the nose/hood top/hood sides. Not many folks ever get one this tight. And how'd you do those great looking louvers?
espo Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Great looking build and I like the era styling also. I have to agree with Ace's mention of the front end fitment problems with this kit. I have built a couple of these and as he pointed out it can be a battle royal to get every part to play nice with each other. Looks like you won that battle here. The side pipes are also well done on this.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Nice kustom, the paint job is gorgeous. Ya can never have too many louvers..... -RRR Edited May 3, 2020 by Rocking Rodney Rat

The sides are simply Revell '32 sides with styrene added to the ends, cut and shaped to fit. On the hood and trunk, I used the same louvers cut into individual strips and grafted them in. These are actually resin copies.
Dave Darby Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 That's a gorgeous 36. Love that bright red paint. You mentioned it was Duplicolor. Do you recall the paint number? I want to get some.

alan barton Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Yeah, that works! I get that you wanted to keep it simple and I think you did that exceptionally well but boy, I would love to see it with a chopped carson top. Then it would go from being great to stellar, at least in my eyes. Your bodywork on all those louvred panels is exceptional. Cheers Alan
James2 Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Outstanding, Nicely and cleanly done and the Duplicolor laid down smooth too!

If I could find a Carson top that would fit without a lot of work and I wouldn't have to chop the windshield frame/glass, I would use one. For some reason though, I like the way the stock roof looks. Thanx to everyone for all of the great comments! I appreciate them!
Grumpa Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 This is realy nice Roger! It's got that late 50's early 60' show car "vibe" going for it. The choice of the smooth wheels kind of offsets the louvers! I
