Hotrod 97 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Well, here it is. My very first build that's bigger that 1/24 scale. This is the LEGO Technic series Bugatti Chiron. Overall, this was/is a very well done LEGO set. The chassis is made completely of technic pieces, as well as the body panels (well, most of them). It has a true-to-real-life AWD drivetrain setup, upholstered interior, working suspension, W16 engine with working pistons, and even brakes. Everything on this car was done to the best of my ability. 3599 pieces and 22 hours and 25 minutes later, here is the finished build. I don't want to put too many pictures in one post, so there are more pictures below these ones.
peteski Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Over 3000 pieces? Wow! That sure is different kind of model. It has an industrial/mechanical/robotic kind of a look. Not a scale model as such, but more of a representation of the general shape of the real car, with some small details thrown in (like the logos and scripts). It is more like an impressionistic sculpture. I have to say, it is not my thing, but it is cool in its own way.
randyc Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Cool. My son will not build a model car kit for anything. But he will build a Lego set from Star wars. That is a form of model building that should not be ignored or shunned. It could be the start of a hobby that eventually goes to model kit building. Hopefully. Someday.
Italianhorses Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Ha, it has a very post-apocalyptic feel to it! I dig it.
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Definitely impressive. I just looked to see the prices and its around $120. Not a bad deal. No addition cost for paint. Looks like fun.
Funkychiken Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 It looks cool! Lego is like a street reliever for me...
Bugatti Fan Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Not impressed! A wasted opportunity to use the Lego build method to make a realistic looking model in this huge scale! It looks very techno, a bit like a Transformer half way through a change!. Actually, Airfix managed to do a realistic (albeit very simplified) Veyron in 1/24 scale and have just announced a Chiron in a similar Lego build fashion in their junior click together range.
