That depends. I like to mix and match wheels and tires because I build mostly "Day 2" muscle cars. Just make sure you test fit and don't get too carried away. Below are some examples of 1/24 tires on the rear of 1/25 models.

I have used them, as on this El Camino.  Need to watch the dimensions.  A rough rule of thumb is a 1/24 wheel is 1 inch larger in diameter if applied to 1/25.  So, an 18" 1/24 wheel would be 19" inch in 1/25.  Again, that is a starting point and you need to check dimensions.  A lot of the 1/24 aftermarket wheels and tires are quite wide, so clearance problems may occur.  Also, wheel mounting points also need to be worked as many are geared to Aoshima, Fujimi or Tamiya.

I do it all the time.

As I'm sure you're aware, real tires come in many different rolling diameters and aspect ratios for the same nominal size wheel.

By mixing nominal scales, you can often get just exactly the look you want, and represent a tire or wheel in a diameter that's not available in the nominal scale you're working in.

But it's important to be aware of your measurements and scale, as mentioned above.

This 1/25 model uses rear tires from a 1/24 kit to correctly represent a much taller rear tire than the front, both on scale 16" rims.

Thank you very much. Makes sense. Have a question...will PM you.

Note that quite a few of the '80s-'90s Monogram "1/24" and Revell "1/25" cars had exactly the same size wheels, and tires could be swapped between them. I know this because among other things, I've used Monogram 1/24 tires on Revell 1/25 '68 Corvette wheels.

Yup.

There are also some that look to be the same at first glance, but aren't.

I just went through a long involved process coming up with a set of "big-n'-littles" of just the right visual stagger for a 1/24 Ferrari 250 GTO hotrod. I ended up using 1/24 and 1/25 tires, and mixed scale wheels with some meat added to the rear (1/25) rims to get the right diameter to fit the 1/24 tires...and had to slightly open up the front (1/25) tires to accept the 1/24 rims of the same design, but with a different depth and offset.
