Cool! I bought an embossing powder starter set with a few colors on eBay a while ago but have yet to try it. I will need to find a victim project.

I have done flocking in the past but have never been completely pleased with the results. Also the fibers do come lose over time and static will attract them to the inside of the finished kit’s glass. I did find that I could give the finished carpet a quick shot of hair spray to help with that.

I think you have mastered this Steve. I have not had the same good fortune. My hat is tipped to you!

It's really very easy George.

I am really more than happy to help answer any questions you might have.

Just a couple of pictures of the results with the metallic powder that I like to use over paint & Elmer's glue.

It also makes a pretty good hood insulation, although this is one of those instances where the more fibrous appearance of flocking might look better.

Steve, thanks so much for the pics.  Those are great and really spur me on to want to have carpet or sound insulation in every build!  You do nice work, sier.  Carry on.

The key thing on flocking or embossing is to lay your glue or paint evenly. That’s why it’s watered down some. Then be very liberal with the material and shake it around if possible . Do not tamp it down or brush it around. This will result in uneven clumps. Let it dry, turn it upside down and tap the excess over paper. The results will be the same as these wonderful examples.

Great thread! Thank you all for posting your finished work and techniques, I recently read about using the powders vs flock. I have a build on the bench that I bought some turquoise embossing powder for. Going to give it a try soon.
