gjorenby Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 Hello, My current build is a 1984 Ford Mustang GT with the 5.0L H.O. engine. I owned this car when I was younger so building from my personal photos. My base kit is the MPC 20th Anniversary Mustang as that has the correct body panels. However, it does not have the correct 5.0L engine or air cleaner. I can get an accurate 5.0L engine from BNL Resin, but still looking for the air cleaner. It was a large round air cleaner with two snorkels going into air feeds in each wheel well. None of the Mustang kits I have researched have this aircleaner so I dont think it was ever included in a production kit. Any suggestions? Thanks!
64Comet404 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 I believe the air cleaner you want can be found in the Monogram 1983 Mustang convertible kit. It’s an uncommon kit to find, so someone on the board may have one in their parts bins. You may want to post in the Wanted section.
stinkybritches Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Here is a build of the 83 vert to see if it has the air cleaner you are looking for
Zen Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Should have an extra 1/24 scale one here. Let me know...….
mk11 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 (edited) The monogram monkees mustang also had the '83-'85 drivetrain in the updated '87 body shell... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/88095-monkees-87-mustang-gt-50-monogram-124-ragtop/ Edited June 1, 2020 by mk11
gjorenby Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 Ah! And there it is! Thanks all for the quick responses, that is exactly what I was looking for. I believe the Monogram was a 1:24 and the MPC kits are 1:25 but its probably negligible on the air cleaner. Willing to buy if anyone has one. Thanks!
