Anthonyf Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 I’m currently painting a 65 Ford F-250 And the car I am replicating has a clear coat with a faint blue sparkle. And I’m having difficulty finding a flake small enough for my airbrush gun and something that will be subtle.
Plowboy Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Tamiya Clear Pearl is about as subtle as it gets IMO.
Kit Basher Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Pearl Ex powder mixed with your clear is another option. It comes in many colors.
espo Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 A possibility in a spray can from Model Master. They offered two different Paints, #2983 Multi color glitter clear and #2984 Silver glitter. They are both Enamel paints.
Exotics_Builder Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 This was done with Pearl-Ex in Testors Clear. Then it was clearcoated over. Doesn't need much

I'm not familiar with those specific examples, but in general, Testors metallic or pearl model paints have flakes that are way out of scale (too large). Pearl-Ex powder is finer. Exotics_Builder Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 I used a couple of spoonfuls of a Tamiya paint stirrer to 1/2 ounce of Testor Clear. Don't need much for a pearl effect.
