Corvette Grand Sport 002

Seeing Slotcar65’s thread on Grand Sports it reminded me of one of the first resin cast models I ever bought, the Bill Landis/Dave Sposaro 1/25th scale casting of 002.  What is unusual about this casting is the body and chassis are cast as one solid piece, except for the roll bar.

“Other than display appearances at Notre Dame University and Elkhart Lake in1965 Grand Sport 002 had never been outside a GM facility until it was sold to Roger Penske. After Sebring he sold it to George Wintersteen for whom it was prepared in the Penske shop with a 427 big block.” (Rick Carey Auctions)

The Grand Sport 002 now resides in the Simeone Collection and has two bodies, the Notre Dame version and the George Wintersteen version.

One solid piece.. so it's basically a heavy block of resin ?? Bet it looked like that before you gave it the works ... Give us a clue, what kind of vintage are we contemplating ?

It would have been in the '80s at the Toledo Toy Fair.  (Ohio not Spain)

that's  a cool   old resin cast, must be heavy !       if you  haven't built the  HRM version  yet,  you should give it a try.    from  my small amount of progress  ,  i'm very impressed with  quality   and correct detail  of the kit.

Yes I do have the HRM version along with a donor kit.  Looking forward to your builds.
