Can-Con Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Velom 1/144 Fokker E.III Eindecker. First plane I've finished in about 10 years. Simple kit with minimal rigging. First plane I've rigged also. Yes, it's small. LOL
Snake45 Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Just THINKING about rigging a model that small makes my brain hurt! Sitting on the Pontiac, looks like a 1/6 scale RC model! Well done and model on!

Thanks Snake, I checked my stash and do have a nice D-VII , It's a 1/48 Roden kit and I even have some photoetch and aftermarket decals for it. I think it's gonna wait 'till I get more practice with this stuff first though. It's quite a complex looking kit in itself and I want to do it justice.
Jim B Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Very nice! I didn't know they made 1/144 WWI aircraft.

Valom Models, that made this one makes about a dozen different ones including some "verses' 2-pacs. This one came with a nice Nieuport II kit. http://www.valom.net/?page_id=29
DonW Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Fantastic model, especially given it's less than 2 inches long with a 2.6 inch wingspan!
bamadon Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 I used to build aircraft but I would have never thought about doing one in that scale that required rigging. Very well done. Don
Nazz Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) The little Eindecker looks great Steve. The rigging is impressive, especially considering the scale! You might add a radio transmitter! That reminds me, I have a Bleriot around here somewhere. I may have to post it. I love the RC idea, I may have to try it myself. Jerry Edited June 26, 2020 by Nazz forgot to add
David G. Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 Nicely Done! I can't imagine working with rigging on that scale. Some of the 1:25 details are a bit challenging for me. When I saw your plane on top of the Pontiac, I also immediately thought it would make a good RC plane for a 1:25 diorama. David G.

Some time back I started building a 1/144 fighter of some kind (might have been a Hellcat), intending to do it as a 1/6 scale RC model in the bed of an El Camino. This would probably require some sort of "transport cradle" to be built for the airplane, but that would all be part of the fun. In real life, the RC model would probably be built in two main pieces, wings and fuselage/tail, that would be transported that way and assembled at the flying field.
Nazz Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 That is true Snake, but some of us who fly would transport the aircraft in one piece in the back of their wagon. Being the space was available.
