All done, and finished in a very exciting two tone beige, Lol. Gold with a brown roof came close to happening, also metallic blue with a white roof, but I decided to do it in a colour scheme I would have ordered from the dealer if I was around at that time when these cars were new. The only fit issues were because of paint thickness, the whole kit go's together very well. The axles have adjustable ride height for the low rider version so I just set them where it looked right and glued them in place. The body colour is Sandalwood Beige, and the Landau roof is Tuscan Beige. Whitewalls are decals from (if I'm remembering rightly) the 1964 Impala. Thanks for following the build in WIP, really enjoyed this one. Don't overlook these Snaptite kits, they will surprise you! Enjoy the pics:)

Very nice!  A typical color scheme you’d see back in the day.

A buddy of mine had a dark brown car. His interior was an awful white cloth that was filthy and stained. The dash, door cards and rest of interior trim were dark brown.

We went to the junkyard and found a medium brown vinyl interior like in your model.  We swapped these seats into his car. The side panels were two part, so we left the lower panels dark brown and the medium brown up top. It looked super!

Back then I had done carpet in several of my friends cars.  We were 17 with no money to buy professional carpets so I’d fit in what ever we could find. He got some dark brown carpet and asked me to do my thing.

I get to his house to find he had already stripped out and threw away the old carpet... um, I needed that as a pattern to cut the new carpet!

I've replaced the carpet in a few of my cars from back in the day too. My mate thought I did such a good job he asked if I could do his car. My mum was throwing out the lounge carpet that was put down in the 70's, it was all strange colours, blue and orange swirls, so I put that in! We got a good laugh out of it and was always a talking point when riding in his car, Lol!

That's a nice one, Gareth!  I have one of these kits in my stash; you are making me want to build it.

Wow! That looks really nice. I remember when these cars were everywhere. Dark brown or black with that color top were popular color schemes.

Beautiful looking build. Since I worked for a Chevrolet dealer at that time this is like a flash back, this is just what it would have looked like.

Thanks, Gerald. Yeah, brown was another close candidate for my choice of paint, bland colours seem to suit this car quite well, haha!

Thanks, Dave. Did those swooped panel lines have the option of a pinstripe? Just asking cos I may do a fine line just along the top of the features.

The side panels had had a fine line outlining the painted panel in the same color. The two fine lines along the top of the front fenders that end at the rear edge of the side window, they were an option. The Landau appearance package did include them but on the standard Monte Carlo they were an extra cost option. I'm glad to see the "Sport Mirrors" on this build as they seem to look the best.  This was a time when cars were ordered more alacarte  than the trim and interior packages of today. The Monte Carlo had 4 different styles of rear view mirrors at that time. The Sport Mirrors on your build would have been standard on the Landau only and extra cost on any other model.  The long front end on these cars gave you the feeling like you were driving from the back seat. As big as they were they were a good handling car.

Very nice.  I gotta get that kit.

Thanks, Lee. It's a good kit, the only parts not included were the whitewall decals.
