dragcarz Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 One of my Holy Grail builds here. I’m not even sure how I feel about the finished build. Usually by the time I’m close to being finished, I just want it over. I’ve been a couple months on the build and in all honesty it will be a few weeks before I will appreciate the time and work involved. Most of the research I found centered around the 71 Duster, and not the 72, so some liberties were taken in the completion of the build. The original MPC kit while so cool when it came out, left a lot to be desired. I wanted to keep the build as much as original to the kit, but I had to do major work on almost every part. If I had it to do over I would paint all the stripes, and use the Revell Hemi Dart kit for everything else. Questions, comments, and even criticism welcome. 9
doorsovdoon Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Very nice! I like the last picture, looks like a real car entering the paddock.
Old Coyote Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Very nice build sir, quite impressive modeling skills.
majel Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 That is very nice, I've always loved the early pro stockers.

NitroMarty Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 WOW.... From where I'm sitting that is a BEAUTY!!!!
TonyK Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Always liked this car and you did a great job on it. Remember a friend of mine in the 70's built the kit and for some reason I didn't buy it and have wanted one ever since. I recall it had wrinkled slicks in the original kit.
1972coronet Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Fantastic ! I especially like how you've done the chassis & suspension ---- that Dana 60 applied-to the MPC chassis plate ! Perfect !
dragcarz Posted July 28, 2020 Author Posted July 28, 2020 Thank you everyone, it makes all the time and effort worth it,
Brutalform Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Beautiful Duster drag car.. You got the stance, wheels, paint, perfect. Nice job on this one.
TooOld Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Excellent work , all of your research really paid off ! Very sharp looking car !
AmericanMuscleFan Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Superb job Roger, I really love it! All the hard work paid off and the finished model looks great and very convincing, the stance is absolutely perfect! I have almost all those old pro stock kits from the 70s in my collection but not the '72 Duster... I am jealous... Well done sir you can be proud of it!!!
lordgodbob Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Very well done! A duster is on my list of “wanna build” cars...you’ve set the bar pretty high here!
dragcarz Posted August 4, 2020 Author Posted August 4, 2020 Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the positive feed back! I’m stoked this year to finally finish some of the models I’ve had on the build list for far too long. If you followed some of my other builds you will remember I hurt my right index finger last October and still now only have partial use of it and it’s probably as good as it’s going to get. Needless to say it’s made model building more of a challenge, but at the same time caused me to appreciate my hands and eyes all the more. Build them while you can guys, I cannot express how much better it is to see this finished in the display case, than what I invisioned in my mind.
