br67 Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Hi guys, any ideas on finding these wheels in scale please?
Can-Con Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Closest ones I know of are in the old Monogram 1/24 '53 Chevy BelAir. The spokes go all the way to the hub but just not as many spokes and they're a bit shallow for the rears.
mikemodeler Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Might be able to find someone to do them with a 3D printer.

I just dug this set out, and was trying to remember which kit they came from--that's it! I found several variants, but this set is the best one I have. Edited August 15, 2020 by Straightliner59

I didn't say they were exact matches. I said they're the best I have. Every other set I have seen have even fewer spokes. It's nothing to sand down a hub, and add a spinner. But, whatever. Show me some better ones!
Mark Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 The wheels pictured (late Seventies MPC Camaro) are likely as close as can be found.

That's what they're from? They have a real Johan "feel" about them, but, I knew they weren't Johan. Sure enough! Here, they are.

They're not a match either. I'm thinking the exact wheel may be on a diecast. Edited August 15, 2020 by Plowboy
Can-Con Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) These are the only ones I know of that has the spokes going all the way to the hub and bolt detail in the spokes. Model Car Garage has a couple different sets of wheel spinners, one set is the same as the ones in the pics. You'll just need to find decals for the spinners or just paint the center of then yellow. Mark Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 The Monogram wheels, being 1/24 scale, will of course be bigger. The car pictured has tires with quite a bit of sidewall showing...the Monogram wheels won't give you that look unless you use way too tall a tire with them.
Plowboy Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 These are from the Revell '67 Corvette Roadster. Close. But, no lug nut detail.

I'm thinking the exact wheel may be on a diecast. Those do look better. I stand corrected. Those wheels (Vectors) were in a lot of different kits, all around that same period. I have a set of Otaki Vectors that are very nice, but they are much deeper.
Straightliner59 Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Those Revell wheels are nice. I hadn't seen them, before. I never got around to one of those 'Vettes, but, I understand they are beautiful kits.
Can-Con Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Eh, Looks close to me but what do I know. BTW, Old MPC '78 Vette body with Revell '68 Vette chassis/interior bucket, front wheels and tires on this mockup are what came in the Revell Baldwin Motion Vette. Same outside diameter as the tires in the 1/24 BelAir kit.
br67 Posted August 16, 2020 Author Posted August 16, 2020 Looks like the Mako Shark May be the closest. I’m awaiting a set from a friend - missing spinners though. Will post pics when they arrive later in the week
