Modlbldr Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I picked this up last month. I got it stripped down and started cleaning up the glue scars. Fortunately, it came apart very easily. I removed the front roll pan in preparation of reinstalling the bumpers. The tonneau cover definitely had to go. The plan is to paint it white with blue racing stripes and a red interior. That plan may change though. Later-
Painted Black Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 (edited) This is my kind of modeling, will be watching for sure.. Was the tonneau cover you sent me from a 63 Galaxie? Edited August 19, 2020 by Painted Black
doorsovdoon Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I like that. Can't beat a good old fashioned screw bottom kit. Looking forward to seeing it progress.
Elmer Fudd Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 That truly looks like an easily restorable example, provided you can find the missing parts. The important areas dodged the glue droppings. Good luck Sir!

Did it have the long headrests and waterfall center console? 4 hours ago, Elmer Fudd said: That truly looks like an easily restorable example, provided you can find the missing parts. It has the custom taillight.panel and stock bumpers. 39 minutes ago, Sam I Am said: All that glue reminds me of my Bobtail T. ? Yeah. Fortunately mine is cleaning up easy. I'm already to the "putty the divots" stage. Should be getting the first coat of primer tomorrow or Friday. Later-
ChrisBcritter Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Looks good now that it's been de-Pinked! Tom, could you do me a favor and measure the width of the sun visors? I'm restoring a promo that had a broken windshield; I got the frame and glass from a reissue funny car but I have to scratchbuild the visors: Thanks and good luck with it!

We designed it to be both a ruler and centering tool and had them made by a scientific tool company, kinda costly but worth it. We did them in hopes that more people would learn to work in scale vs approximating. (We gave them away in the goodie bags) We didn’t get a lot of feedback, so we were hoping people were using them.

Modlbldr Posted August 21, 2020 Author Posted August 21, 2020 Got the body in primer today. Still have a couple of spots to touch up but, for the most part, it looks like the glue blobs are gone. I also picked up another of these off of eBay last night. It looks incomplete but all of the important parts are there, including stock taillights. And the body looks pristine. Later-
doorsovdoon Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Looking good. Good job removing the old glue.
Spottedlaurel Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Excellent refurbishment work there, it now looks like a much more viable project.
Modlbldr Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Thanks guys! Maybe I'll take some time today to work on the 240z Nigel. Later-
Modlbldr Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 Can't tell much difference from the primer shot but I got a first coat of Testors Classic White on it. It is in the dehydrator for a bit and then a quick second coat. Later-

And I don't know what kind of black paint they sold years ago but it does not want to come off. LOL
