Future 1/25 scale Cat 336E excavator build

Hey all

  Here's what I plan on making as soon as I get the Michigan gravel train, Peterbilt 359 Heavy haul and the Loadking 3 axle 55 ton trailer done.

  This is only in Cad right now, although I do have a 1/32 (actually it's more like 1/24 scale) Newray excavator. I used this and pictures and info off of the internet to model this up on UG NX11. Here are some preliminary pictures of the excavator.

this view shows the Newray excavator that I used to model up the Cat 336E on Cad.

this view shows the excavator sitting next to the cab of the Revell Peterbilt 359 cab and you can see it is way closer to 1/24-1/25 scale then it is to 1/32 scale.

this is the excavator at this moment. It needs some reworking to make it look more like the Cat 336E.

this is a view of the 1/24 scale RC die cast Cat 336E from Diecast Masters (I ordered one of these, there around $92.99) there pretty cool and from the videos on YouTube they work real good.

side view of the Cat 336E, as you can see I have alot of Cad work to do to accurize my Cad model. Thanks for looking in and follow along for more info. Since I modeled this in full scale,  I can, if I can get the files organized print some of this on my 3D resin printer. Thats it for now be back with more soon.

This would be so cool in 1/35 scale to go with the hopefully soon to be released Trumpeter M920 with the lowbed.....  that would look sweet...

Interesting to say the least !

 i looked at their website and only saw 1/125. IS that a misprint ?

 if it is in fact 1/25th I have to have one !

  If your talking about the 1/24 scale 336 RC excavator from Diecast Masters there there they just came out this month and are $92.99 plus shipping. They also have a Cat front loader, Cat six wheel drive offroad dump truck and a DT6 dozer all in 1/24 scale RC!

  If you are talking about the Newray excavator they are actually listed as 1/32 but are closer to 1/24-1/25 scale. With a little work they would make a proper load for the lowboy trailer. They are listed under there truck stuff. Around $40.00 with a truck and trailer.

Hey all 

  I got my RC Caterpillar 336 excavator today. I'm pleasantly surprised and disappointed all in one. First it's really nice, detailed well and it runs good, basic movements but nice. Secondly it is NOT! 1/24 scale it is closer to 1/20th scale.

this  view  shows It  next to a drafting scale and you can see that it's not 1/24 scale.

 I went on the internet and downloaded the specifications for the Cat 336. The center to center distance of the tracks on the 336 is 13' 3" and the model measures 15' 5.52" the track gauge on the 336 is 8' 6" and the model is 9' 6" the width over the outside of the tracks on the 336 is 11' 5" (with 34"tracks) and the model is 12' 6" (with 36"tracks) the overall height on the 336 is 12' 0" and the model is 16' 6". As you can see it is to big for 1/24 scale, maybe I can say its a 390 (largest Cat excavator)  well that's it for now be back soon after I figure out how to use this model.

 Impressive RC model. But like you disappointed in the false advert re the scale. I still might get one.

  Here are some pictures of the Cat 336 excavator next to the ALL NEW!!!! Cat 390FL monster!  I got the 3D model of the Cat 390FL off of the internet from GrabCad. (Free download)

top view of the two excavators. You can really see the differences in size between the two of them. The 390FL is the largest mass excavator that Caterpillar makes and the 336 is a middle sized large excavator. That's it for now be back soon with more pictures.
