Thinning Vallejo washes

My black Vallejo wash appears to have thickened. It doesn't flow along grooves as readily. It says on the bottle they are water based acrylics but it doesn't say what to thin them with. I'd hate to put water in there and end up with surface tension.

Water works well, though you can use distilled water if you're worried about any effects from using tap water.
