randyc Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 This pops up on my FB feed. https://samekelp.com/products/4-cylinder-full-metal-car-engine-assembly-kit-model-toys-for-adults Looks great! Looks awesome! Price: $23.99! Looks like a scam! Elsewhere on the net, it is $400 or more. But looks fun. Anyone built it?
Dave Van Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Looks to good to be true!!!!! I'd bite at $25 if real!
SfanGoch Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 The same company advertises all-metal 1/16 scale RC tanks with all electronics for $44.99. If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
cobraman Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I would get one if true. Maybe the shipping is 350.00 !!!
cobraman Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Wait, 357 pieces and can be assembled in 4 hours ?
iBorg Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I thought about it and just didn't trust the website.
StevenGuthmiller Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Who wants to be the $24.00 guinea pig? Steve
peteski Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Make sure to use a disposable credit card number.

bill_rules Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 It's $23 for a 1 cylinder model. the 4cylinder that is shown is $294.

bobthehobbyguy Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Another thought is that this is a scam to get credit card info.
jokar124 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Even if its not a scam, probably up to 300 of the 357 parts will be screws.
cobraman Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 There is a youtube video on someone building one.
Pete J. Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Reread the add. the base price is for a single cylinder. As shown in the photo about $300 for shipping. You have to click the "4 cylinder" box to get the price.
stitchdup Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 scamdoc.com rate the site at 1% trustworthy so save your money.

My wife looks at ladies' stuff all the time. I tell her to look for reviews or on Amazon. That's why I was posting here. I couldn't see how they were doing the scam there and the engine model DOES look interesting.
Goldcan99 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Definitely a scam. When you eventually receive the item, it isn't a model engine but some crappy lego type kit of a cartoon character worth maybe £1.99 I contacted their customer complaints and apparently I am responsible for return postage and was offered $5 us dollars as settlement so that I don't incur the cost of postage to China. I started a PayPal dispute so will see what happens.

I attempted to use their "If not completely satisfied, 100% refund" and got nothing but run around. I used PapPal dispute and will be getting my money back. I got lucky and saved the website with the video of what they are baiting and switching with along with pictures of the junk I got and sent that to PayPal. I can send pictures of the piece of junk if anyone wants to see before they buy.
