glockexe Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Bought some Krylon Fusion today at Wal Mart, at a good price, on the can it says all in one paint+primer, do i still need to spray it with primer, thanks
Snake45 Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 No. In fact, don't use it at all on plastic models. It's formulated to bite into commercial grade plastic such as lawn furniture, and will eat up model car bodies. Run away, run like the wind!
RichCostello Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Snake is right! Don't use Fusion on models, but the regular Krylon "Colormaster" (couple bucks a can cheaper)works good. Even though the can says paint&primer, I still use Krylon primer with it. I usually use the cheap paints on the interior, chassis, and engine, and use Tamiya or Testors lacquer on the bodies, but I have used Krylon on a few bodies too, and it works fine.
Bills72sj Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 I third that. Styrene + Fusion. Bad, very bad.
Deuces ll Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Take it back and have it exchanged for something else...
BlackSheep214 Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I hate Krylon paint. I use Rustoleum 2 in one primer and paint rattle cans.
TransAmMike Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 I'm not a proponent of Krylon and I'm not recommending it but I have used the Fusion quite a bit and knock on wood have not had a problem. I do use Krylon primer first tho. Last full paint job with Krylon was on an older Revell '98 TransAm Pontiac model. Primed with Cover Maxx primer then Fusion gloss black. The CoverMaxx primer dried very smooth and the Fusion went on nicely but did dry out with a good bit of orange peel. After plenty of light sanding and compound and polish it came out just fine. Just saying!!
SCRWDRVR Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 I wouldn't use it on a body like stated it's to hot but I will admit I have some of the semi gloss black I use for chassis and interior tubs but you have to put a little primer under it or it will craze...
