Can anyone tell me if they work well?

Seems to me they would eventually peel off, crack or otherwise not be able to stick due to vinyl tires' flexibility.

I have a lot of them, but just want to know the best way to make them stay put.

They can and do work, but it's not like putting a decal on a model's body. The process has been described on the forum in the past and I would suggest looking at some of the past posts on the subject. Like anything we all do with our builds there are many different ways to do this and I think its one of those things where you have to figure out what works best for you. Good luck, or rob some white walls out of another kit. Ha Ha.

I've done plenty of that, but many of the old whitewalls just aren't centered on the tires. Plus I want to do wider 70s rubber and most of the 60s tires are too skinny for 70s cars.

Believe me, I'm always looking out for whitewall tires. I collect them when I can. I just want to have more options.

I used to use the decals. It was tedious.  Stopped using the decals and just bought tires that have the whitewalls.  Modelhaus is still in business, but they only sell tires.  They have a very nice selection of whitewall tires.

Why use white wall decals all?       Try acrylic white paint instead. There is usually a circular ridge to work to around the tyre wall to line the paint to and then  fill in the rest down to the edge of the aperture in the middle.

I don't like decals, it's so fiddly trying to get them to lay down circular and I have one or two come off when picking the model up from my thumb touching them. The tyres that come with whitewalls printed on them can rub away if handled too often. What I do now is paint them on. I use two washers of different sizes, lay them on the tyre and just aerosol them.

Another thought on the whole white wall tire thing. What I have found with any of the pad printed painted or decal white wall or white letters is a light coat of flat or semi-gloss paint on the sidewall. This will actually give the sidewall a more natural look as well as protect the markings from getting damaged.

That's what I was afraid would happen. That's why I asked for all your guys' input.

I like the washer mask idea, I'll have to try that one!
