disconovaman Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 I built this for the local club challenge Halloween theme for this month. I started with the MPC Snap Emergency Blazer. I used an 84 GMC Deserter for the updated front end. The Blazer is used by police chief Jim Hopper from the Netflix show Stranger things. I took advantage of the natural landscaping in my backyard for the photos. Thanks for looking...
Mattilacken Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Cool! Need to get me those two kits along with a lifted truck chassis so I can replicate my K5 with “37’s! Thanks for the idea!
Goose1957 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Very nice. Never saw the show, but the Blazer looks good. I like the conversion. Jeff

Thanks for the idea! The GMC Deserter kit comes with a lifted suspension, so you should have it covered with those kits.
Koellefornia Kid Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Nice work! I love the show, actually binged all 3 season just a couple of days ago. Somehow I feel the urge to build Billy´s Camaro...

I was binge watching all the seasons during the build.. and I just had to build the Camaro to go with the Blazer. I didn't build it exactly to the one in the show because this 81 is actually kind of a rare kit and I didn't want to disturb the original kit. I did use the correct wheels and license plates also I noticed the BF Goodrich tires on Billy's car so I added the decals to resemble the car correctly... In one scene the car pulls up to the arcade and he has brand new tires with the blue soap still on the letters. Really cool car... Thanks everyone for the nice comments... it's nice to know that we can inspire each other.
Bainford Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Nice looking Blazer. I have not seen Stranger Things, but when I first opened the post I thought it was the Blazer from Jaws.

If the two seem similar it's because the creators wrote Stranger Things as an extraterrestrial version of Jaws (set in the early to mid-80's) and there are many "Easter eggs" throughout the series. Actually there are references to alot of great films...like The Thing, Red Dawn, Dawn of the dead, Back to the Future, E.T. and many more. It's a definite 80's throwback. If you wanted to build the Jaws Blazer using this kit, it wouldn't be hard to do.... all you need to do is remove the top and you're on your way...

Sounds like an interesting show.
