On the real Senna, the owner can’t access the engine (researched the actual car as soon as it was announced) To get to the engine requires a McLaren workshop. Cheers

That confirms what I thought, @Bennyg. I've looked all over and couldn't find any pictures with the rear clam open at all. I think the way the aero works around and through the car, you can't afford not to have the wing mounting, ducts, diffuser and vanes all in fixed positions relative to each other. Even the small hatch over the airbox needs a special tool to open it...

At the risk of incoming arrows/bullets/accusations or worse, I do believe it is worth noting that in reviewing Tamiya's kit pictures, it does appear to have a stand-alone, full detail engine layout.  What appears to be a single, combined engine block/heads/intake/turbos casting will probably need a lot of paint detailing to look good.  Would have preferred those parts to be separate, but still a much, much better solution. 

Very much looking forward to buying and groking this kit!

So I just went back through the pics of the parts and videos and for the engine I'm up to around 16 pieces for the engine, not including cats or the shields that go ontop of the chassis parts or the chassis parts that surround the engine or any of the floor bits either.....that's a pretty detailed engine actually considering even on the real car you can't open anything to expose the engine. I'm guessing an oilchange on this thing is around $11,000......$1000 in parts and $10,000 in labour.

Oil changes are warranty service included. Extras for tracking better than others. Parts like orings and filters scarce but on your nickel about 1100k mostly labor to get to it. Lol. 
Dealer only. 
Happy dance anyway. 570 didn’t do it.

Mine was that bad too. I sold it on, the next owner didn’t mind. It’s one reason I’m mainly sticking to Tamiya.

Me too. I'm loving the seats. Going to be so easy to make them CF then paint the pads whatever colour you want, and they have the holes for the seatbelt harness' so some nice PE seatbelts will be a must.

Looks good in black at night though.   I can see a lot of these highly modified with added bits and pieces - then it will look cool with the body parts off and mechanicals exposed....

If you mean a "service' carbon fiber - all the bits and bobs like splitters and spoilers and whatnot, I'd expect Studio27 will do one.  But that will likely be a month after the Japanese release of the kit, and at this exact moment in time it doesn't have a pre-order there, but I'd suspect it'll be March before the decals will out.

If you mean like a carbon fiber wrap for the actual car, then yes I know of at least one that will be done once the decal maker can gain access to the kit to template out the body. Probably March or so before it'll be ready as well.

If they were doing their own carbon or photoetch it would have been announced with the kit. Senna will be out in 3 weeks in the U.S.

I didn’t think this one would interest me till I saw the detail shots released by Tamiya. The Senna is not my first choice of subject matter, but no doubt this will be superbly engineered and go together like a dream. For that reason, I’m in!
