raisin27 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Completing another of my unfinished models from 2011. Detailing the engine on this Comet Pro Stock. I tried something new, making upper shocks and mounts from crimp beads and aluminum rod. I still say these parts are a lot smaller than they were in 2011! 1
magicmustang Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Wow! Incredible engine and bay detail.
Claude Thibodeau Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Hi Mike! Well, all those smaller parts amount to a great engine compartment. Everything looks "in scale". Bravo! CT
R. Thorne Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Very realistic. What did you use for plug wires and “silicone” boots? Did you make the super coil? Hard to tell in the pic, but, did you flatten the aluminum rod (on the shock)? Thanks, Ron.
Tortuga Kustomz Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 great work my, details on the engine bay looks really nice and clean...

Thanks, The boots are made from computer wire insulation and yes, thats why I used aluminum rod so it would be soft enough to flatten the ends.
mustang1989 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Damm.....IT man! Friggin' nailed it!!! MAN that looks good.
Bainford Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Sweet looking mill, Mr Raisin. Excellent detailing. Nailed it.
dragcarz Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Excellent work, looks to scale, something I struggle with.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Superb job in that engine bay Mike! This has always been my favorite part of a build and you nailed it sir! ?
dragcarz Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 So I’m curious, what chassis did you use under the Comet body, several schools of thought on this obviously. I would love to see some other pics of the details, looks amazing!
JohnnyK Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Super fantastic. If I may ask, what did you use for hose clamps? They add the perfect amount of "bling".
