Fish Eye

I got Fish Eye on the hood of a Thunderbird. How would be the easiest way to repair it? I used Testers Gloss Black Enamel

The paint is too soft to sand . Use a chemical to strip it? But it my dehydrator until dry and then sand it ?

Any advice will be most welcome

Fish eye is usually caused by a contaminant on the surface. That needs to be eliminated so the best bet is to strip, clean, and recoat.

If the spots aren't to severe wash the part with warm soapy water, touch up the spots with a sharpened toothpick keeping the spots really small let dry for a few days if not weeks sand and buff. That method has always worked for me if the fish eyes aren't to severe.

i would typically just strip it with brake cleaner or your favorite stripping chemical and respray. just make sure to wash it with soapy water to make sure you clear off the chemicals

?If you are planning to strip it...you’ve got nothing to lose by trying a touch up first.

Strip and repaint. I paint for a living.  I wouldn't mess with trying to fix it. Like mentioned its cause some sort of contamination,  usually silicone or some sort of oil. Very rarely  does a repair work.

While your recommendation is the sure way to fix the problem, if the alternate repair consists of washing, dabbing some paint and if that works, polishing the hood, why not give it a try first?  It can always be stripped and repainted of the quick fix doesn't work.

Up to him. I don't care. Just making a suggestion. Not like I know what I'm talking about. Much quicker to strip and repaint. Overnight bath in yellow can easy off oven cleaner. Next day prime and repaint. Up to the op.

Thanks for all of the advice. I tried the tooth pick. No good. I just stripped with brake fluid.
