Jim B Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Here is my first completion of 2021! The Monogram 1987 Buick Grand National. 1987 Florida license plate from The Plate Shack The build went very smoothly until the final assembly. I cracked the windshield (thank you to Jordan White for a replacement), then when putting the body onto the chassis that one popped out (twice), the passenger side mirror fell off, one of the side marker lights launched across the room (Jordan White to the rescue again), and the front left turn signal fell out. All in all, I am please with the final results. Here are a couple of WIP shots of the interior & engine compartment:
Jim B Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Thanks, Mike. They are cool cars, and wicked fast, too! Almost forgot, here's a shot of the underside during construction:
Captain Spaulding Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Nice looking Grand National, always been a fan of those G-bodies.
TransAmMike Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Yes James, fast! I actually test drove one just like the model in '87 when I was interested in buying a TransAm. Bought neither, wound up with a Silver with red interior Regal Coupe.
Hmann68 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Nice GN! I’ve had this kit in my stash for 25 years, never got to it. My friend Craig has one that he bought in 1990, it still has only 15,000 miles on it. Great cars!
cobraman Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Nice looking model. I have to paint a model black sometime. Maybe not !
Jim B Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Thanks for the positive comments, guys. I think my insurance rates just went up!
mustang1989 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Turned out great Jim. Always had a soft spot for these as well as the T-Type cars.
doorsovdoon Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Beautiful looking build. These 80's Buicks look so sharp.
