Classicgas Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Is there a kit or diecast available of this car?
Mark Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Hubley and Premier both made one around 1960. I have the Premier kit, as I remember (haven't looked at it recently) it is fairly decent. Hubley kit has a one-piece body but I'm not sure if there is a styrene-bodied kit with an interior. The promotional, if there was one, is probably acetate and any you find would be warped, with yellowed windows.
Gramps46 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 In 1/24 diecast both Hachette and Metro made the Dauphine. Mine is the Metro and there is an engine too. Gary
Tom Geiger Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Heres’ boxes for both Hubley and Premier kits. The Hubley also came as a bag kit. That’s the bag topper at bottom of above photo. The Hubley is the way to go! It has a one piece styrene body, no warp. There are two versions. Bag kit omitted the glass and most of the interior, only giving you seats. Box version has glass, interior and skis. Bag kit Glue version.
64Comet404 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Airfix also did a nice kit of the Dauphine in 1:32. Hasn't been available in decades, but I have come across a few over the years.
Claes Ericsson Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 French company Record also made a Dauphine in 1/25. Multipíece body. I have their Caravelle and it is pretty decent.

You could put a Wanted notice on this board! Otherwise eBay is the way to go! I just checked and none are available right now, but set up a search agent and they’ll email you whenever one pops up. You can wait until the right car appears as the right price. Edited January 5, 2021 by Tom Geiger

I have their Caravelle and it is pretty decent. The Record kit: It has the smaller headlights the home market cars used. This batch of Renault projects came from the late Tom Piagari; there's a Hubley, about two-and-a-half Records and a Heller Gordini: The shape of the roof/side windows in the Record kit seems a bit off, but it's a full detail kit. The Hubley kit has a pretty good body but not a lot more. Here's one I started a while back; mostly I've been fixing the curbside chassis' problems: I moved the front suspension up about 3mm so the car would sit level, and removed the container for the friction motor from the rear (it hangs down like a cow's udder) and filled the gaps around it... ...and enlarged the rear window opening. Speaking of windows, Hubley made them from clear acetate instead of styrene - thanks a lot - so they've all shrunk by now. I've also fixed the chunky Hubley wheels and tires by cutting out the hubcaps with their axle hubs, and inserting them into rims and tires from the old IMC VW. Lee, if you manage to find one, I've made molds for the headlights, front parking lights, and taillights - I can cast up some clear/red ones for you.
Brian Austin Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 (edited) I saw this one in the gift shop area of a car museum in Buffalo, NY in 2018. Edited January 9, 2021 by Brian Austin
Brian Austin Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Yeah...it did not come home with me. :-)
keyser Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Rare bagged Hubley kit. Perhaps if similar sized bag of fentanyl included price ok. Probably could find a running 1:1 for $125. Friend got killed in R8 Gordini at Elkhart Lake historics. Hated all these since. Crumpled like a Hershey’s wrapper. RIP Ken.
milo1303s Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Theirs a resin version somewhere VW guys should know
Oldcarfan27 Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 If you build one, make it for a diorama of this... Be sure to put the airliner landing in the "plane crash" position.
