gseeds Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 starting with a sealed 1990 issue of the orange hauler show car but as the first version the ULTRA TRUCK, first I googled pics of this truck and tried to figure out what color this would be , not many pics to be found , I found a few color and a few more black and white, color pics not a lot of help, best as could figure would be a mix of candy orange, flake, and a lot of silver pearl, so that’s what I did plus adding a pearl white fade on the motor cover, topped off with 3 coats of clear, same color I added to the interior parts along with pearl white, The Ultra Truck version also had different tires than the later monogram Orange Hauler version, this is another kit over the years I’ve never built but I’ve only used for it parts , glad I finally did build it , this is a super awesome kit , I’ll probably never build it again but very happy to have it in my show case !! Hope you like! 1
Danno Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Nice job! I like this color better than the 1:1 was. ?? 1
alan barton Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Gee you have a clean building style, Gary! I have one of these built in my collection, but not my build as it belonged to a dearly departed friend of mine. His was closer to the box art so it is nice to see your earlier version. Cheers Alan 1
cobraman Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Very cool ! Love to see these old show cars built up. 1
styromaniac Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Nice build of an ancient Monogram kit. Does anyone know what happened to the real one? I remember ads in the model car magazines back in the day ( like a half century ago ) it was going to be given away as the grand prize in some contest. 1

Monogram insisted he repaint it red for promotion of the model kit.) ?? On 1/18/2021 at 8:22 AM, alan barton said: Nice to see the blue variation. I have the original dark red plastic version and it is simply to nice to paint! Cheers Alan On 1/18/2021 at 9:23 AM, cobraman said: Super nice work. On 1/18/2021 at 9:50 AM, ChrisR said: Very nice! From what I’ve seen on the internet the car is now owned by starbirds grandson and is being restored.
David G. Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I like those old 60's crazy customs. You built a couple of excellent representations there. David G. 1
