Gramps46 Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 This just in. It is a 1968 Ferrari Daytona marketed by De Agostini but manufactured by BBurago in 1/24th scale. Only the doors open but overall I think it is pretty accurate. The model is the same as the Competiizone version as raced at Daytona in 1969. The #58 is a Polistil diecast that I bought in the 1980s while on a trip to London and modified for Le Mans.
randyc Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Nice model. Thanks for sharing. It really is nice to see all the models shared for us to see out of their boxes and not some stock photo.
Rich Chernosky Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Nice looking diecast Gary....this is one of those cars you just can't have enough of.
keyser Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) Most comps had rear flares and covered headlights. A small number were all alloy. Wish they put 9.5” wheels on back like comps. They look better either wires for street or campys for racE This is a 71 US street car with 9.5’s and 7.5’s. Much better. alloy comp below Edited February 3, 2021 by keyser
Gramps46 Posted February 4, 2021 Author Posted February 4, 2021 Just a bit more clarification. My old modified Polystil #58 is as raced at Le Mans and had not grown the rear flares yet. When it was restored as shown above they left the flares on the rear. BBurago did a pretty good job of capturing the #22 1970 version at Daytona.
keyser Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 You are correct. I was just adding background, wasn’t clear sorry. The comp in my example I’m unsure of provenance just looked at body. Number is of 58 LM car but it was flareless with sliders and 9.5” in back. Also pre fender fences (can’t remember correct name chemo brain) Geez I love Daytona’s.
Snake45 Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Sweet! I'm not a big enough fan to special-order one, but if I run across one at the right price, I'll snap it up for my diecast Ferrari collection. Thanks!
