Top fuel question

Hello All

Does anyone make an after market tank hoses that sits between the engine & the rear wing? It has it's own tank. I am not sure what the tank contains? I think it's on the 90's & newer top fuel dragsters.  The kit that I have, one of the hoses has snapped. I just wanted to see if there was an aftermarket or if someone has them spare? Before trying to make my own. Which I have learnt wont be nearly as easy as I think it should be!!!! Thanks

It's a catch tank also called "puke tank" for oil, oil vapour and humidity from blowby in the engine when it runs and should be empty before a run, a catch tank for oil and oil vapour is mandatory on all nitro and alcohol cars and also in many other classes to prevent spillage on the track.
After a lot of oildowns from engine failures NHRA mandated a larger more efficient catch tank with a capacity of at least 2 gallons in 2010, a diaper or belly pan under the engine wich could contain all the 16 quarts of oil in the engine of the nitro cars was also mandated, this to try to get less track cleaning time after an engine blows up going down the track.
It's not perfect but has cut track cleaning time a lot since then.

I have not seen anyone who does these hoses/tubes on the after market so If you can't find one you have to make your own.
Try at the wanted section here on the forum and someone might have one for you, the Revell modern era Top Fuel kits were made from 1991 to 2002 so they are not hard to find, and the part you need is unaltered in these kits.
Otherwise they are quite easy to make.

@Ashleigh, I can easily agree with Force.

The easiest way my opinion, is to use either the appropriate sized solder wire or buy for cheap electronic insulated wire.  The latter can be had for every size imaginable and is dirt cheap.  Regardless of color, all can be easily painted when in place.  Cheap and in scale!

Hello all

Thank you for the guidance. I thought it might of held oil. I never thought of using the wire. That's brilliant. I was imagining having to use the rubber tube/hose they use on the Tamiya motorbikes. Which would be hard to both get a good solid bond & a proper shape. Thank you all

You're welcome.
One can use many things for detailing models that's meant for a completely different use, look after what's usable and what would look good and work , I do that a lot when I'm at stores, and your imagination and ingenuity is the limit.
If you browse around here you will get many ideas for usable products.

I used some springs for the puke hoses on my junior fueler. This also illustrates just how long these have been in use. This represents a car from '68-'70, and they were in use at that time. I used the copper conductor wire from some Romex, to hold their shape. Clamps are aluminum duct tape.

If you have an electronics shop somewhere near you, get some solid core wire that is close to the hose diameter you need, cut to size, paint black if needed, and install
