Jonathan Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Hello All. Seems to be the best place in the world to ask. What would be a good source for dually wheels, tires (and axle, even!) if I were looking to convert any of the AMT early Chevy or Ford pickup trucks to a dually? Like, for a camper or hauler, for instance? Not the tandem wheel setup of the reissued Racer's Wedge, but side-by-side dually. thanks!
Plowboy Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Only kit source I know of is the 1/24 Monogram '91 F-350. The wheels are undersized a bit. But, would be a little closer on a 1/25 scale model.
Rodent Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Modelhaus Tires still makes the Chevy dually repop set, #802 https://www.modelhaustires.com/collection/802 #800 is also a dually set.

You can buy the whole dually for that price. I had forgot about the Chevy dually promo and I have two of them.

Yeah, probably, but then you have a dually without wheels. I have so much junk around here that sometimes I just buy what I need. I bought two sets of the dually wheels from Modelhaus 1.0, and I don't remember them being $18/set. Don also offered them in chrome. Scenes Unlimited has some nice dually wheels as well, but they are $25.
vincen47 Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Scenes Unlimited would be the route I’d suggest. Several different sets and styles available. You can match the make and year you’re going for, with 4, 5, and 6 hole wheels. He makes 16”, 17”, 17.5”, and 19.5” wheels and tires. They are high quality and accurate. Yes, you’ll pay nearly what you pay for a kit, but they’ll be superior to the stuff you’ll find in most kits.

Very well made wheels and tires and excellent customer service.
mikemodeler Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 The nice thing about Scenes Unlimited is that you choose wheel and tire types. Want some lugger tires for a 4x4? Want some highway treads? Want them a bit bigger? He has them all.
