Lincoln Mark VII LSC

Have been wanting to build a stock version of the Revell Hot Rod Lincoln LSC for a long time and decided to go ahead and start. I know the body needs to be lengthened behind the door and the wheel arches are too flared, but I decided to leave those alone, but have been modifying the body to stock specs.

the two other kits I decided to use for this. The Thunderbird for chassis, suspension and some interior items. The Mustang for the engine, exhaust, inner fenders and other misc parts, as well as the GNX mesh wheels to replicate the factory 90+ mesh wheels. 

 

test fitting the cut down chassis, interior tub and mocked suspension. Cut down the rocker panels and side exhaust that are molded into the body. Used some Mustang wheels just for mock purposes.

added the inner fender/strut towers from the Mustang kit. Also decided the Thunderbird interior tub needed to be modified. I used the floor from the Mustang kit while the back seat and package shelf are Thunderbird.

Getting interior mocked up using some Lincoln specific stuff; the dash, door panels and seats. Not much can be done for the rear seats. Decided to use the Thunderbird center console, although not a spot on match it’ll have to do. Used an automatic shifter from parts bin as this car will be an auto. Also test fitting modified interior tub to make sure of no interference with the windows.

test fitting a 302. Will be using the one from the Mustang kit as it is more detailed then the one from my parts bin in this pic. Also have to cut off the T5 and adapt the AOD trans.

reshaped the Hot Rod scooped hood to a stock style. Also extended the rockers and reshaped them. Originally the rockers are too flat and straight even if all I did was cut out the side exit exhaust. Also filled in the incorrect body line on the lower front fenders between the door and wheel arch.

This is going to be cool......

Bob Johnson, the kit designer, told me he wanted a stock Lincoln kit but RM said no.....but allowed him to tool a body for the Hayes Thnderbird......why we have this kinda odd kit.

Too bad RM didn’t give him the green light for a stock kit, but as oddball as these cars are in real life I’ll take what I can get lol

Ooh! I'll definitely be watching this one! Just the other day I was eyeing this kit as I have one......even made points on the body where it would need to be lengthened. Never thought about the body being "too short" until someone pointed it out some time back.

Yup..........this is another one of those you just don't see on the roads any longer. Hot cars in their day (especially the LSC), but have pretty much disappeared.

Hi i am watching your build very close i started the same project 3 years ago and have been stalled i got the same 87 T-Bird kit The Mustang kit i got was the AMT 94 but i do have a couple of the Revelle Mustangs kits i can use were i have been stuck is the front and back axels i think i have the rear one worked out but the front is going to sit to high. i used the 87 T-Bird for all the under the hood parts so far nothing is glued yet.

Oh heck yeah, I've always wanted to do this one also. I had a special edition LSC back in the day and will find another one some day.

Thanks for the compliments, Didnt make much progress today. Laid down some primer and base coat. Color is going to be Tamiya TS-88 Titanium Silver. Also test fit the automatic transmission

I should also mention I actually own two of these cars in real life (91 & 92) lol

Chan....great progress on a project many of us considered, but backed away from due to the amount of work.  

And kudos on those 1/1 LSC's.  Two of my most very favorite cars of all the ones I've owned or leased over the last five decades were my 1990 LSC in the pale blue metallic and my 1992 LSC in the dark red metallic.  Those were magnificent cars, and ones that I liked a lot better than the 1993 and 1998 Mk. VIII's I had later on....wish I still had that '90, in fact.

Been awhile since I’ve updated, because I haven’t done much with it. Been sitting idle on the bench. Decided to throw together what I had. Still have a lot of work to modify the track width and ride height using the Thunderbird suspension bits.

Chan, can you shoot a straight on side shot of one of your cars and the kit body?

I think I can see where the wheelbase differs in the kit but I'd like a side by side camparo.

Just tuned into this build and am thoroughly intrigued. A thought about the wheel arches, would it be possible to remove the arches from the T-Bird and splice them into the Lincoln?  It appears there are a lot of similarities between the two bodies.

It could be possible and i honestly didn’t think about it, but I think the fenders and rear quarters are shaped differently on the 1:1s

did some detailing to the Windsor. Had to do more parts rummaging, distributor/boot from an sn95 5.0 Mustang kit, also had to modify the serpentine system as the Mustang drag racer kit doesn’t have AC, so clutch and compressor from a 90s Cougar 5.0

It looks like the rear wheel wells needs to go back about 3 scale inches, while the rear 1/4 panels need to be lengthened a bit less, say 1.5 scale inches. Hmm. Less work than I thought.

Yes.........there should be just a bit more real estate between the trailing edge of the door and the leading edge of the rear wheelwells. Stretching the body behind the wheelwells may be in order too. This is another one of my brainstorm projects way down the road as I have this kit and all what's needed to cobble it together.

I just need to get through my other stuff first!

Yep this has been discussed on the Mark VII fb page and below are the measurements on the 1:1, although I’m not mathematically smart enough to scale them to 1:25 lol?

Thank you, I’ve done further plumbing on the engine since those pics I’ll include one later as this is the most detailed engine I’ve ever done lol
