Here's a little track modified based on a Model T platform with a custom built body.

-Body made from the cowl of a 1932 Chrysler, one of the MPC 'Gangbuster' series of kits. The cowl was narrowed and shortened. The rest of the body is from the rear fenders of a Revell '48 Ford. Much massaging and filling was done to complete the body. The track nose from the Revell '29 pickup was cut up and resized.

-The frame is made from Evergreen styrene rectangles with the rear crossmember from the AMT '25 T kit.

-Engine is a flathead from a Revel kit with a single carb intake and stock heads. Transmission is a '39 style from the parts box.

-The front axle is from the Revell Model A pickup with a spring from the Monogram ZZ Top '33. Spindles and other components scratch built. The rear end is a banjo from the '48 Ford with a spring from the AMT '25 T kit.

-Wheels and rear tires are from the Monogram Model A coupe, front tires from the MPC '32 Chrysler.

-Bomber seat from The Parts Box Co. with scratched built cushion. The dash was scratched together with gauges from some decal sheets with photo-etched gauge bezels.

-The floorboards are strips of 'wood' decal from a pickup with the metal bed strips sliced off.

-headlights (small) and a tail light with a license plate makes it 'street legal" Ha!  It would be fun to tool around in though, wouldn't it?

-Paint is a combination of gloss, semi-gloss and flat blacks.

Wow, that is pure, styrene porn!  Yes, it would be a blast to drive around in, even if you were a physical wreck after the first fifteen minutes!  The chipped rusty edge of the side panel where the hood closes on it - who even thinks of this stuff? You do, Rodney, you do. The rear exhaust brackets are so delicate, you got the bodywork done inside AND outside, the understatement of the single carbed, stock exhaust flathead (about all you would need to scare yourself in this roller skate!)  This is the new benchmark.  Just love it!

Not to take anything away from your thread, but I can't believe the similarities with a project taking a break on my bench at the moment.  It started out as an MPC 29 Lincoln, yep, another Gangbusters series just like your Chrysler. It is getting the Lincoln V12 from the Monogram 41.  Haven't started the frame yet but it will have more of a dry lakes modified feel than the circle track racer inspiration of your single seater.

Alan-

It looks like you have a good start on your build. I like the lip around the body opening and how it goes all the way around. Looking forward to where you take it. The V-12 flathead is a great idea! -RRR

Wow! This is an awesome build! Details you did are fantastic from the chipped paint, bomber seat, to the wooden floor boards! Great job!

An incredible build! The simple fact that you saw this finished model is you looked at that pile of styrene rubble is amazing. Thank you for taking all the extra time to document you process. The finished model is absolutely top shelf quality. A totally unique model to be very proud of.

Thanks, Tom, that's high praise. Yes, my bench usually looks like a pile of styrene rubble!! There is a build in there somewhere, though.

And thanks for all of you for the positive comments. -RRR

I’ve been back 5 times now to check this thing out. I think you absolutely nailed the look, feel and authenticity! Now, where’s that application for TROG...?
