I’ve been back 5 times now to check this thing out. I think you absolutely nailed the look, feel and authenticity! Now, where’s that application for TROG...?

Ha! I did actually send a TROG application for the '30 roadster I built, Mr. TROG wrote back that his entry was better done than many they receive. -RRR

What ADL is referring to is the inspiration for RRR's One-Man Speedster:

Agreed. Looks like it would be right at home on the beach at Wildwood,N.J. Super Slick build and execution.

Wow, that is pure, styrene porn!  Yes, it would be a blast to drive around in, even if you were a physical wreck after the first fifteen minutes!  The chipped rusty edge of the side panel where the hood closes on it - who even thinks of this stuff? You do, Rodney, you do. The rear exhaust brackets are so delicate, you got the bodywork done inside AND outside, the understatement of the single carbed, stock exhaust flathead (about all you would need to scare yourself in this roller skate!)  This is the new benchmark.  Just love it!

Not to take anything away from your thread, but I can't believe the similarities with a project taking a break on my bench at the moment.  It started out as an MPC 29 Lincoln, yep, another Gangbusters series just like your Chrysler. It is getting the Lincoln V12 from the Monogram 41.  Haven't started the frame yet but it will have more of a dry lakes modified feel than the circle track racer inspiration of your single seater.

Now that I look your little tub, I realize that is the same body I used for the cowl of this Salinas Special.  -RRR

An incredible build! The simple fact that you saw this finished model is you looked at that pile of styrene rubble is amazing. Thank you for taking all the extra time to document you process. The finished model is absolutely top shelf quality. A totally unique model to be very proud of.

Tom....so glad you got a look at this one....of course, I immediately thought of you as I saw the first pix of Rodney's masterpiece.  Sure wish we could get it together with your speedsters for a joint photo sesssion!   TIM

That would indeed be a fun thing to do at some point in the future.

After first checking with Rodney to make sure he's OK with me posting these models in the thread on his build, here is a brief look at Tom Woodruff's two Speedsters models , which share come common themes with Rodney's Salinas Special....this picture was taken when Tom and Karen visited us here at the Boyd ranch a couple of years ago....

Fascinating to look at, compare, and contrast the elements of the three projects (soon to be four with Alan's latest....)   TIM
