Another icon called-home . With his ace mechanic Gary Dyer , Grand Spaulding produced some 'factory-says-it-can't-be-done' classics --- the first 383-powered 1967 Dart ( 12/1966 ; Feb. 1967 issue of Car Craft1967-dodge-dart-gt-383-driving.jpg.3ca1bb09c40d97d837665e39fb0d5c41.jpgMr_Norms_1969_GSS_Dart.jpg.00e60763818de897247deca9fd0257fa.jpg ) , and the first 440 Dart ( late 1967 ) . I drew this picture back in 1999 [ see image ] , then colourised it in 2000 and added the vintage 1969 'Peace Hand' decal ; a gift for my friend .

Back in late '69 after being in a car wreck, I needed a new car after getting out of the hospital and after checking out a few dealers Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge had this beauty with my name written on it so I drove it home. I really liked this Bee and raced it on the street as well as the strip, and it also took me to trade school every week as it was my daily driver as well. Yes the Grand Spaulding Dodge dealership was a really cool place to visit as well as shop. May you R.I.P. Mr. Norm.

Nice 'Bee ! It looks like it wants to lurch-forward ; completely restless sitting in that driveway .

Did Norm's shop 'Super Tune' that bad boy ?

If I recall, his shop did so.

Of all of his 'regular' offerings during the 1965-1972 era , the two which most impressed me were the 1971 Demon 340 Six Pack and the 1972 Demon 340 with the Paxton blower .

Both nice cars, however I myself prefer the B-body cars.

Esoteric inquiry here ; does anyone know what the 'CA' translated to in that old COX phone prefix ? I'm guessing it was 'CApitol'  ( '32' ) ... Also note the last-four-digits : '3300' , just like the address ! Coincidence ?

"CA" I believe stood for Calumet.

Mr. Fraud Krause

My brother was recruited to work at Mr. Norms He left his other employer with the promise that his family would get health insurance . This was a big deal because his wife was pregnant at the time.

Baby was born. Mr. Norm " I never promised you insurance"

After he quit my brother contacted Susan Anderson an investigative reporter at WBBM TV Chicago. A TV taped interview was done at my brothers house. Dad, Mom, Sister and me sat in.

He explained why he is going on the record.

1 Multiple fake warranty claims were made for customer cars.

2 Used car odometers were turned back.

3 All of his racing transport vehicles had their odometers turned back.

4 Nail in the coffin. Fake warranty claims.

Mr. Norms fleet sales customers included Chicago Police, Illinois Secretary of State and various Illinois  Municipalities.

The investigations by Chrysler and Attorney General of Illinois began shortly began after the interview aired on WBBM TV.

This led to the demise of Grand Spaulding Dodge. Mr. Norm was never ever going to own a Chrysler Dealership again or any other auto company.

And I heard from a very good source that Mr. Norm's brother Larry was even a bigger crook.
