Cowpunk Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 As you can see, the 1965 & 1966 Olds Starfire got the Pontiac Grand Prix roof & backlight. But the thing about the 1965 model is that the exhausts exited through the rear lower quarter panel moldings. That's pretty unique. Click the youtube link. 1965 Starfire
ksnow Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Very cool old commercial. I would think the exhaust through the quarters would rust them out terribly.
ChrisBcritter Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Nice! Thanks for posting it. I have a '65 88 and a '65 Grand Prix roof donor, but I'll be taking the somewhat easier route to make it a Jetstar I - the rear bumper and taillights won't have to be changed.

We had two 65 Jetstars growing up, and I would love to recreate our red hardtop.
Motor City Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 (edited) See why I keep commenting on fixing the Dynamic 88 tooling to make the '65 and '66 Starfire, as well as the '65 Jetstar 1 (which Chris correctly points out has the Dynamic/Delta 88 rear end)? The '63-'64 GP and Starfire and '64 Jetstar 1 also shared a roofline. The exhaust ports on the '65 Starfire tend to get very pitted. The Starfire was cheapened for '66 with a vinyl interior instead of the leather that all previous Starfires had. The '65 and '66 big Olds was available with a factory 4-speed on the 88, Jetstar 1 and Starfire: Isn't that about the coolest shifter ever? Edited March 3, 2021 by Motor City .
ChrisBcritter Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Sweet! Now I won't have to do it What issues did you run into with the roof swap, and where did you make the cuts?
slusher Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Thanks for posting and commercials wasn’t so annoying and was fewer. I enjoy remember when I was born in 65.

c. jackson Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 it actually fit pretty nice. i cut halfway across the trunk and down to the beltline at the vent windows. the trunk lines line up perfect.
Sam I Am Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Our Jetstar was a fastback like this one, only red with chrome Allison mags. Basically the same body as the 65 Impala. Would love to reproduce it in scale. Funny thing, the first Jetstar we had was a 4dr sedan the same color as the pic. ?
