carsntrucks4you Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Here the new quiz from Edwardian times, which is a hint. Thanks to Richard Bartrop for this picture. As usual sent a PM Year, Make and Type
peteski Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 The front fenders are unusual - they almost look like wings.
carsntrucks4you Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 Let me give a hint. The car was build in Motor City
DonW Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Well I thought this would be easy, but not so. An inspired choice, Michael!

There are so many different manufacturers of them, I was very surprised to find that as I was searching. One of the most challenging quizzes for me! I like this particular one a lot.

DonW Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Well done Ken, you got there in the end! Cheers and thanks for the challenge Michael and Richard, -Don.
Pete J. Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Boy, I banged all around this one. I thought I knew it but never found it. Great choice.
DonW Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) I started out thinking Mercedes 60hp, then Michaels clue led me to Mercedes-Simplex - but both those are chain driven although otherwise the roadster versions are almost identical to the Pings-Finch. I suspect a connection. Then more vaguely random searching for American roadsters built in the same year as the Mercedes Simplex gave me the answer. Btw, it's a Pings-Fitch not a Pungs-Fitch!? Here's the Mercedes-Simplex - note the rear wings which cover the drive sprockets as well as the wheels: Edited March 15, 2021 by DonW
Richard Bartrop Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 There's a connection in the sense that basically every carmaker on earth ended up copying the Mercedes Simplex. It's one of the most influential designs ever.
