BlackSheep214 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Tough call. I’d call this one extremely rare & priceless. That automobile belongs in a museum.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I really need to get another one of the Johan kits. Probably one of the most beautiful, best engineered and most detailed kits I’ve ever built! Steve
Bucky Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Another great MOPAR to dream about owning. I built the JoHan kit way back when it first came out. I have another kit in the stash to try and see if I can build it better the next time.
Motor City Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 usual drivel in the article ... "bespoke" is used; who speaks using that word other than snobs?
Tom Geiger Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Imagine if Chrysler did sell all the Turbine cars! They’d still be million dollar cars today.
TransAmMike Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I saw that on Hemmings also Richard. At first glance I thought it was a 60's T-bird.

There is a definite resemblance, especially from the rear 3/4, and the front and rear owe a lot to the 1958 Ford La Galaxie concept. Maybe not that surprising, considering that ex-Ford stylist Elwood Engel had just replaced Virgil Exner as head of styling at Chrysler, and he had taken some Ford staff with him, including the guy who designed the La Galaxie. More details can be found here: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/07/chrysler-turbine-car-started-ford/ Come to think of it, the Ford connection probably also explains the resemblance between the '64-'66 Imperial and the '61 Lincoln Continental I built the Jo-han kit way back when, and it is an amazing kit. I managed to snag another from Okey that still awaits assembly. Edited March 10, 2021 by Richard Bartrop
Brian Austin Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Cars powered by turbans? Amazing indeed! Also, what's with the extraneous pictures of everyday cars thrown in? What the commentary fails to mention was that poor fuel economy tended to doom turbine engine concepts. More than one truck manufacturer toyed with turbine engines, and found them not worth the trouble in the end. And then, would your neighborhood mechanic be able to service an automotive turbine engine had it been produced? I saw the video pop up in my Facebook feed today and initially skipped over it, since the title screamed CLICKBAIT to me. These cars were prototypes. They get crushed all the time. Remember the GM electric vehicles passed around in a similar program 20 years ago or so? Their lessors didn't want to see them go either when that program came to an end.

my66s55 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I actually saw one of these turbine cars on the John Lodge expressway in Detroit multiple times during 64-65. They really stood out from the rest of the cars.
Oldcarfan27 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I'd offer him $1500. After all it is a used old car and it needs 4 new tires!
Joe Handley Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 There’s a new Steve Lehto video of this car getting started and driven by the museum that acquired it, as well as the guy who dealt with these when they were given to the public!
