Drone in a bowling alley

Wow! The planning of all that must have been intense to get everything choreographed so smoothly. Wonder how many takes they had to do... Yeah, “amazing” pretty much sums it up.

EDIT: Didn’t notice the link. Guess I’ll check that out. Thanks for sharing something unique and interesting Peter!?

Wow, Whoever is piloting that thing has had some practice! I know nothing about drones...do they have some sort of self-guiding collision avoidance capabilities? If that is strictly operator controlled then that person has some talent.

That was amazing. My only experience with a drone was at a friend’s outdoor birthday party two summers ago. Our other friends live a street or two away and their son wasn’t at the party. He stayed home but sent the drone over and supplied some neat photos.

I believe the pilot is wearing VR googles and is viewing live video feed from the drone. Basically it is almost like he sitting sitting inside the drone. Unlike helicopters or RC airplanes, drones are pretty stable flyers (they have sensors like accelerometers and a computer "brain"). Still, this sure took some amazing piloting skills.

There are also drone races (indoors and outdoors) done using this type of VR drone control.

I watched a story about this on my local news last night.

The film was made in a bowling alley in Minnesota.

The pilot of the drone used VR goggles and he was being directed by another individual, as were the other people in the building.

The video you see above was the tenth take.

The pilot, who is apparently an exceptionally good drone pilot, was worried about the portion of the film where he transitions from the front of the bowling alley to the rear, but said he made that transition without incident on every take.

He said that the difficult part proved to be flying the drone from the outside through the front doors.

Exterior winds and people passing by who were not aware of the project were apparently the most challenging hurdle.
