Dragonhawk1066 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 A few progress pics of my 1966 Chevy Fleetside that I'm building as a tow vehicle for my AMT customizing boat and trailer that will have the same color scheme. The body is a custom mix of Decoart Extreme Sheen Garnet and Delta Ceramcoat Black Pearl craft paints. The cab and roof are painted in the Black Pearl. I'm really liking the look so far and hope to get the interior painted tomorrow and the clear on Friday or Saturday.
KWT Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Looking good. I dig that color scheme you got going. Was thinking about something close to that, for a restomod build of that kit. You may have helped me make up my mind.
bisc63 Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 You mixed up a very attractive almost Black Cherry color there!
Kromolly Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 Looking great. Like the others, I like your color combination. I'm working on a '64 C20 long bed replica of a truck I used to own. It's in the WIP section.
espo Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 I like your body color choice for this and look forward to seeing the boat.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted April 5, 2021 Author Posted April 5, 2021 Got the dash done and the grille blackwashed yesterday. Making some good progress on it now, I'll try to get more pics tomorrow.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 More progress on the truck today. I got the interior done and most of the chassis ready to go. Also got the bed decals and C-10 emblem decals on. This is a really nice building kit so far.
FLHCAHZ Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Looks sharp. Did you use the same clear as on the Trans Am?

Nope, I used Decoart Duraclear Gloss Varnish on the white and blue Trans Am's, and for this truck I airbrushed on a couple coats of Pledge Floor Gloss. I wasn't going to try to wet sand the clear on this truck, so the Pledge was the way to go.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted April 7, 2021 Author Posted April 7, 2021 A quick mock of the front end on the frame, I also got the individual Chevrolet letters on the tailgate, and the underneath of the bed painted.
Lorne Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 not to steal away from your build but here is the potential

I don't do many trucks, but I could definitely see the potential as I was building this one. I have the '66 Suburban kit, which shares a lot of parts with it, and bought a Jimmy Flintstone Chopped Delivery body and Lex's Scale Modeling Cowl Induction Hood for it. It will be modified with larger tires and lowered all around with a different motor/trans combo. Not sure when I'll get to it, but I have some serious plans for it.
Lorne Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 I tried a feeble attempt at a cowl hood wish I would have found what you found with the Lex's Scale Modeling Cowl Induction Hood!!! This will be a very cool panel truck. I will be watching thanks for the reply L
