Tiger89 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 After following a 1960 DeSoto with its outrageous fins and tail lights on a recent AACA club drive, I had to finish this kit bought last year. This was the 1974 Johan USA Oldies re-release. It had quite a bit of flash, and found small parts like the steering wheel to be brittle. Based on the condition of the box, the kit must have been stored in a hot attic for decades. I used the tires from the AMT '62 T-bird, mirrors and antenna from my parts box. There's a black, real '60 Adventurer hardtop for sale locally at a classic car dealership.
1959scudetto Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Super, David - this is my favourite JoHan kit (has also been my first) - I have built the same back in `83 - I think it is one of the sharpest looking mopars of that era.
Tom Geiger Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Super! I have one of these on my unfinished pile... no doubt since the 1980s
bogger44 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Super sharp and an always great color combo on these. I've been wanting to get my hands on one of these for some time now.
BeakDoc Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 She’s a stone cold fox! Beautifully built. I love the classic white on red on it.
charlie8575 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Nice job, especially on the interior. Been considering joining my AACA and my local chapter. Charlie Larkin
Tiger89 Posted April 24, 2021 Author Posted April 24, 2021 This is the view from the drive I mentioned that motivated me to build. The front end styling with its whale mouth grill is about as bizarre.
thatz4u Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Nice one David, glad you finished it. Hey Guys, if you have one in your stash..build it!!
TooOld Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Beautifully done David ! I also love the 60 DeSotos and actually have a 60 Dodge Phoenix on my bench right now .
