camaro69 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Hello guys, I know there are many threads in here about hinging doors, hoods and trunk lids. But all of the hinged parts are nearly straight on the hinged side. My problem is that the trunk lid I want to get work isn´t straight. I already tried the tipps out of the forum but nothing worked like I wanted. Any help would be much apprecciated. Thank you all in advance. Rico
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 There's absolutely no reason most everybody's standard go-to hinge design won't work on that decklid... http://images39.fotki.com/v1233/photos/1/1100664/6447846/nonsprung-vi.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff308/garyseeds/hinges14.jpg ...unless you want the hinges to come through those holes.
oldnslow Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 If you're set on using the holes in the body, I'd suggest turning the hinge to the outside behind the c pillar . It will be tedious work to get a flat surface to mount your hinge to , but it's doable .
Plowboy Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Just looking at your photos, it looks like the pivot point on your hinges will have to mount to the package shelf instead of the body. That's the only way it can be done on a model with a small and curved tulip panel. I've done three different models that way and it works well. I don't have any progress photos. But, I think you can get the jist from this photo.
camaro69 Posted May 12, 2021 Author Posted May 12, 2021 Thank you guys, I will give it another try...
