Mopar - D Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 In July I will have owned my 1:1 Challenger for 12 years and I’ve built 2 copies of it but not with the correct paint color. A few years ago I was able to pick up some PE parts for it and have been waiting for the right time to build it and be able to make it my best build yet. My Challenger has a sun roof so I will be adding one to the Revell 2009 Challenger kit from the Revell Magnum kit. My research on this build is really easy I just have to go to the garage and check. Today I’ve been removing the mold lines in the front and rear fenders on both sides of the car. Also painted my rims. Next will be to cut the opening for the sun roof. Here’s where I’m at for now.
slusher Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Dan, I have one these and I was how you do the black around the windows. I will enjoy watching your build as I also love Mopars..

Actually after about a 30 plus years I started building again by being able to build the current 1:1 I had at the time. It was the Dodge Magnum SRT 8 On 5/17/2021 at 9:25 AM, slusher said: Dan, I have one these and I was how you do the black around the windows. I will enjoy watching your build as I also love Mopars.. Carl I’ve used a black marker on other windows before and I’m thinking about using it on this one to. I’m going to tint the back windows like I did on my RAM Power Wagon using 1:1 auto tint. 23 hours ago, FLHCAHZ said: Great Project! something specal about building a model of your 1:1. Mopar - D Posted May 19, 2021 Author Posted May 19, 2021 I’ve been working on the chassis and wheels plus starting on the Hemi. The body is ready for paint but I’m having to wait until the rains here stop but that maybe next Monday.
Mopar - D Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 I’ve made some progress on the interior still have to do the seat belts. Here’s the test fitting to see how it’s going to look.
Mopar - D Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 Thanks Michael, The blue stripes on the seats were only on the Spring Special edition and for 2009 they only made 186 of them. The production run was cut short because of the bank rup CHRYSLER when though that year. They finished the production run when they started back up but they were 2010’s. Front seat belts in place now.
Mopar - D Posted May 21, 2021 Author Posted May 21, 2021 (edited) Little more progress today. Finished the interior with all 5 seat belts and was able to paint the body. Edited May 21, 2021 by Mopar - D

Thanks Carl If you look close to the upper section of fenders you can still see the mold lines. I thought I had them smooth with the primer on but the blue shows them. I’m now in the process of removing them and then repaint. Small set back but it will be worth the effort for me.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Looking good Dan! I have to say that's my favorite color for the new Challenger's. I knew a guy near me that had one the same color and it was quite the eye-catcher.
Mopar - D Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Thanks Craig, I’m still getting comments on my car that’s 12 years old plus it’s still fun to drive. I’ve finished re-sanding the mold lines out and have a new coat of blue paint on it.
Pierre_tec Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Nice color! My guess is b5 surf blue, looks nice in every car
Mopar - D Posted May 31, 2021 Author Posted May 31, 2021 I’ve been able to clear coat and buff the body. I also painted the black trim and have the rear done. Still need to finish the front end and hood. I also need to paint the headliner and install the glass. If everything goes well I should have this one in under glass in a couple days.
TransAmMike Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Very nice Dan, and if I may ask, what did you paint the exhaust system with? Quote
Mopar - D Posted May 31, 2021 Author Posted May 31, 2021 Thanks Mike, I painted them gloss black first and then put Uschi Metal Polishing Powder “Steel” on them.
espo Posted May 31, 2021 Posted May 31, 2021 Your build is a great tribute to your pride and joy of a car.

I really want to do a modern challenger at some point, but I have never had any idea how to attack it. Thought silver or purple, but nothing seems original. Your colour choice is really nice though!
