Zippi Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I was browsing the ole interweb for model car show video's and saw this 5 window coupe (maybe a 37 Chevy). I just thought it was a fantastic looking model and the color just pops on the car. I had a 37 Ford pickup street rod 1:1 so I'm real parcel to the mid to late 30's fat fender cars and truck. What have you spotted that just really caught your eye.
Daddyfink Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Way too many to list, because just when you thought you have found the ultimate, something else comes along.
Paul Payne Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Augie Hiscano's XK-R (r stands for rod) blue roadster was my inspiration to build better models.
JollySipper Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I'm a big fan of this build..... It's Mr. Guthmiller's Coronet. I hope he doesn't mind if I post a pic of it. I like everything about it.... 3

peteski Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Yes, too many to list. Besides, why do people always come up with "most favorite" or "best" questions? What is my favorite color? Rainbow! (I like all colors). I also don't have top favorite of anything. I like too many things to point any single thing out. Maybe it is just how my brain is wired compared to the others who ask questions like that? Um wait, I do have a single favorite thing: The BSI brand CA glue accelerator! But it is not a subjective choice (like a color or a best model). It is the only one I use because it has low odor, it doesn't seem to be as aggressive as other brands, and it does not attack plastic or paint.
Straightliner59 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 John MacGowan's Willys pickup comes to mind. Steve Catron's belly tanker, too.
Jon Haigwood Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) For me it is the Ala Kart built by a friend and fellow builder Harold Perry AKA 38 Crush , here in Oregon, Unfortunately I can't any pictures of it. Edited May 20, 2021 by Jon Haigwood

plastic trucker Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 How about anything and everything that John Teresi builds 1
JollySipper Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Anything Bill Stillwagon is always good....... I really like his style. He has a Fotki with a bunch of models on it. Here's one example....... 1
cobraman Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 I love when there is also a pic attached to the post. 1
tim boyd Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Doug Whyte's '53 Studebaker from around 1990.....TIM
Venom Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Steve Guthmiller’s ‘61 Ford, which I just saw for the first time today on this forum thanks to another post. This car is so sweet to look at, and like all of Steve’s builds... exquisitely clean... impeccable build! 2
Zippi Posted May 21, 2021 Author Posted May 21, 2021 That is nice. Love that color and all the detail.
Paul Payne Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Tim, I agree with you about Doug Whyte's Studebaker- saw it in person at NNL East and it is jaw dropping!
BlackSheep214 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Well now, that's like picking one over the other; even your own builds. Don't get me wrong, there are countless fantastic builds on here, in other forums, and model shows. How can you easily pick one? It's impossible amongst thousands of kits.

Here’s two photos of Doug’s Studebaker as it sits in the International Model Car Builders Museum. I took the photos GSL week in 2005. 2

I view it as something that’s most likely temporary... One day you see something that you realize is the best you’ve seen since you can remember with the understanding that one day you will likely see something even better, or more likely, as with me, your taste might simply change. However, some things can meet a certain criteria that promise its likeliness to stand the test of time. You might find/see something you like more eventually, but in going back and reviewing what you once thought was the “best”, you’re still taken in by it because it is so well done that it retains the fascination factor that it deserves. What I find interesting and strange is when you see another person’s opinion of the “best” whatever and you think it’s a lousy choice. The first time I remember having that thought was during my early teens and seeing some of the girls my friends thought were hot.
