Hi all,

the following came to my attention, they're included with a magazine which is only available in Germany, Switzerland Luxemburg and Austria.

Maybe our German board members can give more info, about these.

But I do hope they will sell like hotcakes, I'm in for a few if I find a way to get them to Belgium

Opel Sammlung 1:24: Alles zur Opel-Sammlung von Hachette - Abo-Sammlungen - Das Wettringer Modellbauforum (wettringer-modellbauforum.de)

Bummer....just found out that my favorite car the Opel Commodore (A) GS/E is sold out!

Cool!  I could go the early Record!  Not in the group, I’d like to see a 1968 or so Kadett and first gen Manta. We didn’t get the Commodore or later Manta in the USA.

Weren't the Opels out of the '50's/early '60's sold through Buick dealerships? I knew of a neighbor that had one of these. Always reminded me of a shrunken Chevy Nomad! :D

Yep - Buick sold Opel Rekords and Kadettes, and Pontiac (briefly) sold Vauxhall Victors, both nice looking cars.

PMC made a curbside '59 or '60 Rekord, but it's on the crude side, no glass or interior and possibly oversized.

Here ya go.. I have one of these. Cannot comment on scale as I really haven’t looked at it with a critical eye.  I do need a front bumper.. or at least the right end of one!

There we go. Definitely some proportion issues here... Enlarging the window openings and replacing the side trim with some more-to-scale Evergreen stock would be a good start, then reshaping the wheel wells, then building an interior, then... shoot, I'd rather try to get Hachette to make one of their nice 1/24 diecasts.

We received more Vauxhalls up here than Opels, mainly because of preferential tariff rates on British cars. Pontiac kept selling them into the early '70s, when they introduced a dud known as the Firenza. These cars made the Chevy Vega look like a durable, rust-resistant automobile, believe it or not..

I saw a resin kit on eBay a while back. I tried to bid on it but it went for waaaaay too much $$$ IMO. :(

So would I, or a 69 2 door sedan like we had in 69.

I think some earlier 1/24 Hachette diecasts have resurfaced under the WhiteBox brand from Model Car World in Germany.

I see the Manta 400, but not the others (yet) I've bookmarked their page and from now on will check on a regular basis.

Thanks for the info Don!!!!!!!!

My rear bumper is plastic. I believe this is a promo or at least was sold as a finished unit since my rear bumper is heat fused in place

Don't worry, Luc - just go to the following site and there you have it:    https://www.modelissimo.eu/  - you may switch to dutch or french, if you want - choose scale 1/24, and then Hachette Opel Collection and voilà:

7 different 1/24 Opels available at the moment (surely there will follow more)

No problem, Luc - the Kadett rally and the Diplomat coupé have been added a few days ago - so I believe that maybe in 2 or 3 weeks the next models will be added - just watch the site often!

I too am a big Opel fan. And wish that I could add more than the few AMT and Revell Opel GTs to my collection. I do also have the ICM/Revell 1/24 scale Opel Admirals (cabriolet and sedan). But, I’d love to see more 50’s and 60’s kits of Opel sold here and abroad.

Opels were sold by Buick dealers, Vauxhalls by Pontiac dealers.  As soon as the '61 Special and Tempest were available, the dealers dumped the captive imports like a hot rock.  Resale on those tanked right away.

My older brother had one of those Opel wagons, this would have been in '65 or '66.  He only had it a short time, I only saw it once at the gas station where he was working.  He wasn't driving yet, probably paid next to nothing for it...no idea what he did with it...probably junked it.
