When I restarted modeling in the early 80's, my main focus was on American trucks and cars - one of my holy grails at that time was Monogram's 58 T-bird (probably because I remembered one soft plastic toy from early childhood?) - anyway, I found a rare 1974 version ("special interest" series) - here is how it came out...

Color is Duplicolor Citroen cream from the rattle can, which seemed to me a fitting color for such a car.

@1959scudetto

WOW!!

That is one pretty car.

Those are the colors I was going to paint mine. Now I will for sure.

Nice detailing on EVERYTHING!!

BEAUTIFUL MODEL.

Thank you, David - i had this color at hand back then (the black interior is unpainted, bare plastic with touches of white, applied with a tooth-pick). I've got a second one (2002 issue) which will be painted in coral red with an interior in the same color; this time I will also fill some sink marks (behind the front wheels) with putty, a job I left out the first time...

Very sharp and you got the doors to work !

Thank you, Ray - the doors fit quite well, but with my next one maybe I will glue them shut.

By the way, I found a picture  on the net of my childhood '59 T-Bird - it was a soft vinyl toy car with 2 passengers on the front seats and a dog on the back seat - practically indestructible - available from 1963 onwards, made by Tomte-Laerdal of Norway (scale must be about 1/43) - I had the orange one : ideal for the sandpit!

Gorgeous build. I've got one on the back burner to do as a replica of one my dad drove way back: Thunderbird dark green metallic with turquoise and white interior. Sorry I ever let that body get away. Your build is about as nice a job as anyone has ever done on that kit, and that ain't easy! Nice, tasteful color, too. Very well done.

Thanks for the compliments, Rusty. Dark metallic green with turquoise and white interior sounds like a great combination.

On my next build, I will fill the sink marks and drill 4 holes into the front so that I can make recessed headlights (as with the real car).

BTW, beautiful color combo.

Absolutely! Have you noticed that this bird has similarities to the 66 Batmobile?
