Pink Monogram 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

Finally able to call this one complete. I didn’t post any WIP pics on here as they’re all on my Instagram account  

Early 90s Monogram 1959 Cadillac Eldorado 1:25 scale. 

I have to say I was impressed by the quality of this old kit. No real major issues on fitment or anything. 

Paint is finished in ScaleFinishes Ford Tropical Rose and topped with Splash Paints 2k Clear Coat. 

The chrome trim is done using BMF, and all of the bumpers and things such as this, are finished in SpazStix Chrome. All emblems are part of the Modelcar Garage Photo-etch set for the 59 Caddy. 

I decided to lower the kit some to give it a good stance, and the wheels and tires are from the Foose Eldorado kit, also finished in SpazStix Chrome. 

Interior is completed using embossing powder for the carpeting, and utilizing the photo-etch parts, again from Modelcar Garage. 

The engine bay is fully wired and plumbed. I also added some fender brace bars as I noticed on the 1:1 from some reference pictures.

The president at GM when the '59 Cadillac beast was made was John F. Gordon, a guy many considered a bit conservative and soft spoken. Many media outlets back then blasted GM for what they called "outlandish extremes" in the '59 GM cars. The Caddy's high fins got the most negative attacks, but so did the '59 Chevy's horizontal fins. Jokes were made, Ford even went as far to ridicule GM styling that year in ads. 

The usually laid back GM president had heard enough apparently. He said of the '59 Cadillac, "Well, I didn't personally style it but at least it doesn't have the bizarre styling the Lincoln does with cross eyed headlights and strange fenders that look like a collection of spare parts from several different cars". And he informed the press that Cadillac outsold Lincoln 3 to 1. 

As for the '59 Chevy, he said to the press, "If you think a Lear jet could land on it's rear deck, go for it, but gentlemen, I will remind you that the 1959 Chevrolet is the best selling car in America and Ford isn't".

Nicely done and nice presentation.

Beyond the beautiful paint and trim I like the fine details thru out. I spent some time studying the painting details on and around the engine and the chassis. The longer I look the more fine details I notice. The same can be said for the interior.

Thanks man!  Yes, the more you look the more you’ll find lol. There are vacuum hoses off the actuators, tubes for the windshield fluid bottle, battery cables, heater blower vent tube,  and the list goes on lol.

Thank you very much sir. I bought them from a seller on eBay that I use often. They’re not a water slide, they’re just printed and you cut them out and glue them in place.

What a beautiful land yaught. My uncle had one of these with a hard top when I was a kid and it was like riding on a cloud. It was built like a Sherman Tank and probably got about the same milage. Of course in the Italian neighborhood he lived in it had to be black.

I have the kit and p-e, so of course I studied your very well done model.  I also bought the last gauges.  ?  One thing I did that not everyone would do, got the dash chrome plated.  If I ever build it, will search for this thread. ?
